England's Journey to World Cup 2007

After being knocked out of the Group stages in previous World Cup, England are now looking forward to win the World Cup 2007 but this time the journey is even more difficult with couple of tough series ahead.

England had recent success in their previous series against India and full of confidence. Also their biggest achievement after losing the World Cup was winning the Ashes by Beating Australia comprehensively . But after the Ashes things have changed a lot for England as some of the key players are injured. As a result of this there has never been consistency in the performance of all the players .England have also selected some new players so that they could have a strong team for the World Cup .Still a long way to go for the World Cup and England have a tough schedule ahead with Pakistan ,ICC Champions Trophy and the Ashes in Australia.

2006 Jul-Sep (HOME) : v Pakistan (will be played after the CB series in Australia)
2006 Oct-Nov (AWAY): ICC Champions Trophy in India
2006/07 Dec-Jan (AWAY) : v Australia : The Ashes 2006-07 (IN PROGRESS)
2006/07 Jan-Feb (AWAY) : ODI series (Aus, Eng, New Zealand) in Australia
2007 Mar-Apr (AWAY) : World Cup in the Caribbean


The Ashes 2006-07 is in progress with Australia leading the series 1-0.

SKY Sports were in the race along with Channel Nine, ESPN-STAR Sports for the television rights but SKY Sports won due to the introduction of many innovative technologies and including one of the best commentary team.

This commentary team will cover the match analysis along with the pitch report, weather report, toss and other few new concepts which includes the involvement of the cricketing fans.

The Natwest Series
SriLankan's are very confident of winning the Natwest series because of their terrific win over England in the 3rd npower test match due to which the series was drawn 1-1. M.Muralitharan bowled brilliantly throughout the test series and got 8 wickets in the final innings.However England's K.Pietersen is in excellent form and will be hoping to continue with his form in the ODI's as well.

Squads Announced

Engand and SriLanka have announced their squads for the Natwest series.

England have got in some surprise inclusions in the squad .Andrew Flintoff has been ruled out of England's one-day squad after being advised to rest for four weeks while he recovers from an ankle injury. Andrew Strauss has been handed the captaincy .The new faces in the squads are Tim Bresnan, Jamie Dalrymple and Alex Loudon.Glen Chapple another all-rounder has been included in the squad.England will have to really perform well as they have new players in the squad and also A.Strauss has been handed the captaincy .

On the other hand SriLankan have strengthened their pace attack by calling up Dilhara Fernando and Ruchira Perera.Russel Arnold, now considered a one-day specialist, has also been drafted into the squad.Malinga Bandarais also included in the squad to strengthen the spin department.Nuwan Zoysa,Thilan Samaraweera, Jehan Mubarak ,Michael Vandort and Nuwan Kulasekera have been left out of the squad

Gamer this will be a tough series beleive me ;) looking at the squad i think main bowler will be Murali.. he will take most of the wickets.. :rolleyes: but also england have some good bowlers in there i.e Mahmood and others..:D. Why didnt you add Shaun Udal in it :D then this thread would have been full of only Drew's posts :p anyway goodluck! :happy :onpc

SuperSelector Fantasy Cricket game
Superselector is a fantasy cricket game which will be introduced before every series and all members will be allowed to participate.Top 3 members will be given reputation points after every match.

Rules
1. Post 5 Batsman 5 Bowlers and 1 Wicket Keeper from the squad announced
2. Assign a player as captain.

Points System
1 point per run scored
25 points per wicket taken
5 points per catch held by fielder other than Wicket Keeper
10 points per Wicket Keeper dismissal (Catch or stumping)
5 points per run-out(No wicket Keeper involved)
The points of the player who is choosen as captain will be doubled

NOTE:U cannot select the same player twice in your team.
Teams won't be allowed to be edited after the match starts
No Bonus players involved
Teams Edited after game starts will be disqualified
