First match since the patch

Been watching your videos and started my career pro, batting hard bowling medium. I notice on your videos when you bowl an effort ball it says effort ball on your HUD. Even when I am holding R2 to bowl an effort ball my HUD just says perfect release and not effort ball. Is there another button you have to press to bowl an effort ball? Batting is fine, but bowling really hard to take wickets. Got 2 lbw and 1 bowled in first 3 club games, but really struggled to take wickets for rest of season. Ended with just 8 wickets in season 1. My player is an all-rounder, middle order batsmen and fast bowler. Curious as to what you did to pick up wickets regularly.

I restarted my career, and the club cricket part is such a slog, but I'm through it now, playing with Barbados in the WI FC competition. I've done stuff with the gameplay sliders to find a balance between challenge and realism in FC cricket, and have scored a 35 (49) and a 42 (52) since finding a good balance. Out both times with stupid shots, only myself to blame. The problem I seem to be facing is that the gameplay is the same in both FC and short format cricket, so I'm finding myself going along at a strike rate of only 75 in the t20s otherwise I just get out too easily. I'm probably going to have to have different settings for FC, 50over and t20, which is a pain. At least until my player is worth a damn (only 50ovr at the moment), and I can play bigger shots. I think to start the career mode on a player with sub 30 overall skill and make you start t20 is a bit troublesome. In the end I just put batting on easiest and diff level on pro to get through the club matches and get selected for FC. On FC I have the match level at veteran with the custom difficulty sliders between 45-55, as well as some physics sliders changed, including max and min pace and shot force, seems to work nicely.

Do you hold it down or just press it and release it? I hold it down until the ball has been bowled

I have worked out why not seeing it. I tend to jump and release using my eye watching the position of the crease as I approach and don't use the on screen bowling HUD. I find if I'm trying to get green on jump and green on release watching the bowling HUD I tend to a. Bowl no balls and b. am not watching where I'm bowling. I think you have to get perfect on both to see the effort ball on HUD. It is very hard to get perfect deliveries using my method but I prefer to bowl that way. Maybe I need to adjust the sliders.

I started off my career over the weekend after a long long gap, thanks to the delay in Patch 4.. But, boy, they do a great job in improving the quality of the game. Started my career as a top order specialist batsman. In my first season, I was asked to bat at 2nd down. Since, my ability is not great and didn't get to bat with the fielding restrictions., just managed to scrap through with some 15's and 20's. The field placements of the AI seemed to make sense, but that getting changed for every delivery is a minor hindrance. Just during the last 2-3 matches of my first season, scored my first 50 and a match winning 30. To my pleasant surprise, I was promoted up the order for my 2nd season.. Now I got some overs to hit over the top and I managed to put in decent scores, still not great knocks though. At the end of 2nd season, my record was like averaging 19 odd with a strike rate of 120. Just couple of 50's to show. I was handed captaincy in my 3rd season, though I didn't do great so far in my career. But this is understandable as BA doesn't want to me scrap in lowest tire forever and lent me a sort of helping hand. I started of great in my third season as I started to hit fuller length deliveries at will and started scoring almost at 200 strike rate. Just when I was considering the thought of increasing the batting difficulty from Medium to Hard, my batting form dipped. I couldn't loft the ball as confidently as before now and I started getting into two minds and ending up no where, which I thought is a good thing in the game. Injecting that little fear to my batting made me play a bit cautious just as in real life. I could see form arrow too changing to Red. Not sure if this has any part to play in the game, but I did notice it change. Finally, after my 3rd season, I had a poorer 3rd season than my 2nd and felt I doesn't deserve the call up to the upper divisions. But I was invited to play the 4 day and one day games which was kind of unfair to my club players as they had better performances than me. All in all, a very good improvement to the game and I am saying this after putting in 3 seasons worth of effort in the Career Mode. The field placements were good after the field restrictions and was challenging to take them on during the closing stages. The only 2 hindrances I had with the game are 1) having to take a look at the field prior to every delivery as they change too much to my liking. 2)The AI batsman plays out the over(s) without rotating the strike often even when I give them strike after just 1 delivery.

All in all, I feel the game is worth the time invested in playing it and most definitely worth the amount invested in buying it !!

Got a hundred on Ashes debut 2nd innings at the Gabba. Fast pitch, fast outfield, yes please! :D

Highlight was advancing down the track to pull Cummins over square leg into the 2nd deck. :p

Unfortunately I only made 5 more before getting out. But lead is 400+ with 2 days to play so time to crack fortress Gabba! :cheers

Since the update, has anyone noticed being moved to the 12th man every time after loading up career mode? I and another person has had it happen every time since. NOTE: These are with careers started before and after the update.
