Day 3
MARYLEBONE CRICKET CLUB 1st innings (399/5 overnight)
USPC started the day with some schoolboy fielding errors much to the delight of Coughtrie and Doran. The former notched up just his third first-class fifty in 31 matches.
Jake Doran finally succumbed to the left-arm tweakers of Andhuvan.
Coughtrie and Lyons continued to frustrate USPC's bowlers as they pushed the MCC's total towards 500.
Coughtrie was finally bowled by Ashley Andhuvan, but not before he scored his maiden first-class century after taking inspiration from the 17-year old Doran.
Sam Baromono got them closer to bowling out the MCC by dismissing Doram. They still couldn't figure out a way to get past the stubborn Ross Lyons though.
And now it was Ross Lyons who began to take them apart. USPC however were spared of further pain as MCC skipper George Brooksbank declared the innings at 531/8. Their lead was well over 300 and it will take nothing short of a miracle for USPC to turn the tables.
After a tough introduction to the world of cricket, the USPC players were relieved to be heading back to their dressing room and awaiting their turn to bat.
USPC DEVELOPMENT XI 2nd innings
The USPC openers managed to survive the first over this time. A significant improvement from the first innings.
Randy Orton was bowled trying to recklessly slog the spinner Lyons into the stands.
Arun Prashanth started the third session with a bang, carting the promising young seamer Mahmood for three boundaries in an over.
Nick Agger couldn't make the most of a confident start.
Prashanth easily dispatched Purchase's gentle offbreaks to bring up a half-century.
The USPC skipper emulated his partner by smashing three boundaries in an over, this time off the MCC's best bowler. The pair's partnership progressed past the 50-run mark.
Saqib Mahmood had the last laugh as he set up Prashanth with a couple of short balls followed by an unplayable yorker.
USPC's Irish import Kelby Rogerson wasted no time in getting on with the business.
USPC finished Day 3 after a much improved display with the bat, probably owing a lot to them witnessing a batting masterclass from Rahul Dravid behind the scenes. They went into the final day trailing 160 behind but more importantly with 7 wickets still intact.

It's a long chase alright, really happy the way we hit back after an embrassing first 2 days. The way we are going now I can happily take a draw out of this game, it'll take a miracle if we win this and the chances are really slim at this stage. But a draw will be really good considiring how bad we were in the first innings.

Day 4
USPC DEVELOPMENT XI 2nd innings (158/3 overnight)
USPC started off quite positively and Simranjit Singh brought up his fifty early in the day.
Rogerson too brought up a fifty. His came of only 60 deliveries.
Rogerson turned out to be too aggressive for his own good, as he miscued an attempted reverse sweep off Daniel Doram straight to Purchase at point.
Ashley Andhuvan followed Rogerson back to the pavillion playing the same needless shot, off the same bowler and into the hands of the same fielder at the same location. It was déjà vu.
Doram was on fire now. USPC's best batsman from the first-innings was bowled trying to cut one too close to the body. Dick Punani was out for 4.
Thomas Edison decided to clear the deficit by smashing the ball to the fence rather than hanging around to play for a draw which seemed quite improbable at this stage.
Edison fell to Brooksbank shortly after lunch, leaving USPC with only 3 wickets in hand and another 19 runs to make the MCC bat again.
Soon after clearing their deficit, USPC lost another wicket.
Singh brought up a spectacular hundred. With an unreliable slogger at the other end, it was all on him to get USPC to a somewhat respectable lead.
Andrews and Singh got the lead past 50 with some aggressive batting.
Saqib Mahmood proved to be a thorn in USPC's flesh again. He got rid of Singh with the USPC lead still at a meagre 72.
Sam Baromono was the last man out for 7 to leave the USPC lead at 88. One can't expect No 11s to play face saving marathons every time.
MARYLEBONE CRICKET CLUB 2nd innings (Target: 89)
The MCC's openers, especially Ruvindu Gunasekara looked in brilliant touch and put on 50 for the 1st wicket. This effectively dashed all hopes of a miraculous backs to the wall USPC victory.
With the MCC cruising to a 10-wicket victory, some madmen from the USPC camp stepped up and fought to reduce the margin while everyone else looked defeated.
It all ended with a big hit off Friday Kasteni's bat.
Thus, the first official match in the United States of PlanetCricket came to an end with the home team losing by a very convinving margin.
This ought to serve as a good learning curve for a bunch of amateur cricketers who were pushed straight into playing a first-class match with no cricketing experience whatsoever to bank on. Yet some of them such as Dick Punani, the skipper Simranjit Singh, Aditya Sharma and Arun Prashanth rose up to the challenge quite well.
17-year old Jake Doran was named Man of the Match for his innings of 138 which nullified USPC's bowlers and bolstered the MCC to a first innings total in excess of 500.

-X-Thus, the first official match in the United States of PlanetCricket came to an end with the home team losing by a very convinving margin.
This ought to serve as a good learning curve for a bunch of amateur cricketers who were pushed straight into playing a first-class match with no cricketing experience whatsoever to bank on. Yet some of them such as Dick Punani, the skipper Simranjit Singh, Aditya Sharma and Arun Prashanth rose up to the challenge quite well.
17-year old Jake Doran was named Man of the Match for his innings of 138 which nullified USPC's bowlers and bolstered the MCC to a first innings total in excess of 500.
