It has been agreed that Sourav Ganguly,Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh were/are the best captains in the game.They have all been rated highly by the cricketing fraternity.

Who amongst these is the best ? I'll also add Hansie Cronje to the list.Let the discussions begin.

No way. He had no spark or aura about him.

Shane Warne could have been a great test captain and he in fact regretted the fact that he could never do so.

I wouldn't have Ricky Ponting in there. I think his true test is now, with Beau Casson in Mitchell Johson in the squad. How he handles them, how he fits them into a winning squad and how he can make these ordinary players look good with the decisions he makes.

Stephen Fleming is probably the best tactician. Shane Warne's performance as captain in the IPL probably makes him the best T20 captan to date.

Dhoni is a pretty solid captain, as is Kumble. And Vettori and Vaughan were both quite good in the test series, Collyflower was good in the ODIs so far.

Steve Waugh was an overrated captain. His only plan was all out attack and just expect McGrath and Warne to fix everything up if it goes wrong. I reckon Ponting has already done better as a captain, Allan Border was better than them both anyway.

Stephen Fleming was a better captain than everyone mentioned here, agree with King Pieterson that Mahela Jayawardene is the best current captain
