South Africa Squad Change Nortje fractured his right thumb during a practice session in Port Elizabeth on Monday and has been replaced in the South Africa squad by veteran allrounder Chris Morris.

Why have they gone back to Morris, is there no other pace bowler that could have replaced Nortje? Morris has been quite poor in ODIs and hasn’t played one for a while too. They could have gone for another batsman IMO given that the only backup they currently have is Markram/Amla.

But I think he can come handy for the Proteas considering the fact that this South African team lacks a good all-rounder which hasn't been the case in the past for them with the likes of Kallis. In 2015 their part-time bowlers did a great job but you just can't rely on them. I think having Morris in the team is a very good choice

He’s got a worse record than Andile for one. If they’re relying on him to be the saviour, then they’re truly not going to be anywhere near the knockout stages. I remember even Gibson saying that Morris wouldn’t be able to bowl 10 overs. I feel like his T20 exploits have created this illusion of him being a very good player, when in reality he is highly overrated.

I believe Andile is already there in the squad, so next best choice they had was Morris. I mean they can't be going towards Albie Morkel now :p

And they’ve also got Pretorius, who’s a much better option with the bat. I don’t really understand why they would opt for a bowling all rounder when they’ve got just one batsman as backup.

Yeah I forgot about him. Apologies

Seeing the way the England-Pakistan games are panning out, Rohit and Dhawan better keep their T20 mode intact and get off to fast starts. 320-330 is not going to be enough in these conditions and India have got to seriously target 365-370+. I actually feel KL Rahul should somehow play in most of the games as he is one guy who can keep the aggression on for longer periods if he gets going. Maybe now, I think Gambhir's idea of playing KL Rahul at 4 might not actually be bad if that is where he has to fit in.

I wonder how will Dhoni approach his innings in England. He can't take his sweet time to get going and needs to bat aggressive.

England are big time favorites for the tournament. I'd be very surprised if they don't reach the finals of the World Cup.

Every team is different and every team does have different strengths and weaknesses. Pakistan in this series have lacked a good spinner and that is what has troubled them. They are only going with one full-time spinner who has not been their limited overs specialist. So by seeing Pakistan you just can't say India would find it difficult considering the fact the 2 of the world's best limited over spinners are in the Indian team so here they have the option to get them the wickets in middle overs. These guys Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal if they get to defend a score in excess of 310-320 and even if the get a little bit of help from the pitch, they would eat the opposition alive !!!! And the attacking thing you have mentioned hasn't gone well with this team. Everytime they have tried to force things they have lost early wickets. This Indian team has the capability to score 350+ even after being 65/0 in 10 overs. Infact it would be better we hang around till 35 overs and then go for the attack. That thing works the best with the Indian team.

On flat wickets and in English conditions, spinners won't get much help anyways. And India lost the ODI series to England last year when we played there as part of our test tour. And Kul-Cha were part of that side. Also I believe the days of hanging around and then going for the attack are almost over because MS Dhoni is not in his peak times and the rest of the middle order is pretty inconsistent and we are not even sure what the make up of our middle order will be. Only guy on whom I have confidence that he will hit well is Hardik Pandya (that's because he is in his peak period now). When the totals get bigger and bigger, the opportunity to wait it out and size up the opposition for a late attack will keep decreasing. A strong aggressive start will always be required if you got to challenge/set totals like 360-370.

But as far as I remember the spinners were put under pressure because of the low score in the 3rd ODI and if we talk about the 2nd ODI credits to England that they played well. But also consider the fact that we lacked good fast bowlers on that tour. Bhuvi and Bumrah both were injured. And as far as I remember we did make them play differently

But this WC is a long tournament. The pitches would be used for more than 5 matches atleast and that definitely would affect the surfaces over the course of time. For sure there would be spin later in the tournament.

MS Dhoni is not in his peak times
But the fact is he has been our leading run-scorer this year.

the rest of the middle order is pretty inconsistent

In my view we are only lacking a no.4 batsman. Rest of the line-up is settled enough. Kedar Jadhav has been consistently scoring 30s & 40s since Asia Cup last year. Hardik Pandya has been in a destructive form. MS Dhoni is our leading run-scorer this year. Virat Kohli's name is enough to scare a side :D:lol (just saying it on a lighter note but he is just very good). If MS bats and no.4 in WC, we have our problem solved. It's been our only problem.

On flat wickets

Believe me we haven't batted on them yet so we can't even say whether they would be able to score 330-340. I don't really think we need to score 350-360. We can even win after scoring 300.

Bangladesh is striking some rich form in the triseries with Ireland and Windies

They have strolled into the final witg 3 out of 3 wins. They have looked very calm and mature in all 3 games. Anyone taking them lightly in this format at the World cup will do so at their own peril

They lack a good slogger IMO, with the closest being an inconsistent Sabbir Rahman. If their other batsmen could fill in for the lack of a slogger, they could very well be a surprise package. I expect them to win versus Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and West Indies, and upset one or two of the higher ranked teams. But given the current format of the tournament, it's unlikely that they make the knockouts.
