With the 2010s decade only 3 days away from coming to a close, I thought what better way to finish things off than select Test XIs featuring the best players to have appeared during the 2010s. So that's what we'll be doing here.

Player selection rules

In order to be ruled eligible, a player must have appeared in a Test match anytime during the 2010s i.e starting from 1 Jan 2010 to 31 Dec 2019. Only stats and performances in Test cricket during the 2010s decade will be taken into consideration, so please beware.

Draft guidelines

I will post the ordered draft once I get the sufficient amount of signups. The same rules apply as in other drafts i.e the next person may pick if it's been more than 24 hrs and the person before hasn't picked their player, the player picked is invalid, and that you have to tag the person coming after you. It would also be appreciated if you can post a sentence or two about why you're picking a certain player - it doesn't have to be as detailed as this; something like the example posted below would more than suffice:

For eg - ":saf: :wkb: Ken McEwan - His entire first-class career between 1972/73 to 1991/92 coincided with South Africa's isolation from international cricket. In that time he racked up 26668 first-class runs at 41.73 with 74 hundreds, the second most by a non-Test player. Could also serve as a decent backup keeper when called upon."

We may even have a draft tournament between your respective XIs once this is complete, as I have a cricksim Test rating guide to do similar to this one and could really use the practice.

Apologies for any inconvenience. I'm gonna have to pull out because of some unfortunate developments in my life.

(Nothing serious, don't worry).

Virat 'King' Kohli.
  • Virat Kohli had a Phenomenal Decade (2010s) as Batsmen in all formats and is arguably the best Batsmen in the world when it comes to limited overs cricket but is not far behind in Tests either.
  • Made his debut in the year 2011 and made a mark in by scoring his maiden hundred in Australia with a gritty Hundred in the Adelaide Oval in a tour where India were absolutely hammered.
  • Kohli took over as India Captain in 2014-15 tour of Australia and the capatincy only enhanced his batting as Kohli went on to score runs wherever he went England,South Africa, Austrlia,West Indies , Sri Lanka etc. and led India to the No.1 Side in test matches in the last 4 Years.
  • Scored 7 Double Hundreds in the last Decade - most by any player during the that tenure.
STATS : M - 84 I - 141 Runs- 7202 HS - 254* Avg - 54.97 100s -27 50s - 22

What can you say. Bloke made his debut in 2010 and has pretty much been a force ever since (Sandpaper issues aside) he's had a great decade - topped off with being almost unplayable in the Ashes back in the summer. As we speak he has a test average of 62.84 with 26 Hundreds and 28 50s, and he's only 30!

Overall Pick #3: Kumar Sangakkara
Kumar-Sangakkara-of-Sri-Lanka-leaves-the-field-after-being-dismissed-by-Moeen-Ali-of-England-during-day-thr1.jpg

Profile
If you're looking for a high-quality batsman then the two names that spring to mind are the two who've already been picked: Smith and Kohli. However, the equal of one and the superior of the other, Kumar Sangakkara's batting ability aged like fine wine until he afforded himself the honour of going out while he was still at the peak of his powers. Of course, that left everyone wanting more, and the beneficiaries were Surrey County Cricket Club, with whom he scored frankly obscene amounts of runs.

2010s Statistics (46 matches)
:bat: Left-handed batsman
4,851 runs @ 61.40 (17 centuries, best 319)

Role in the Team

The era's best specialist number three slots straight in at number three because I'm not a madman.
