As highlighted in the article the tournament has not commenced and there have already been positive cases.

The article mentions close to 10 reported cases coming from the ground staff, theyre not in the bio bubble, dont their lives mean anything?

All this for greed, for the love of money, any true sport fan could never approve of this.

I personally wouldve rather it cancelled or at the very least host the tournamnet else where, outside of India, as the tournament alluded to!
Once it was established that they weren't having crowds they could've taken a more sensible approach to how many grounds they are using.

The three stadiums in the UAE are within 100 miles. CPL had two grounds in 33 miles. The PSL fell apart and they were at one ground.

Mumbai will be going from Chennai to Delhi to Bangalore to Kolkata and then (most likely) to Ahmedabad. The travel and establishing/maintaining different bubbles is where the increased risk comes in (I assume).

At the end of the day it's down to the people within in the bubble to follow the rules.

Agreed fully at the end of it all its how people manage themselves and follow the guidelines, worked well in general thus far, thats why we have had over 3 million deaths globally from the Covid. My mistake, this is in a 'bio-bubble' I hope guys like Archer have no family in India to visit or the party boys like Bravo are wise enough to stay away from the nightlife........good thing Stokesy stopped boxing as well.

The staff outside of the bubble don't their lives matter? I am guessing its ok to risk their lives for the greater good so the BCCI can rake in the profits. The Ministry of Health officials in India how can they sanction this.

As you stated though its up tp those in the bubble to follow the rules. Guess to hell with those outside of it!

You won't believe this but the general public in Mumbai are in complete lockdown yet the IPL is being conducted over here. Forget about the players and staffs they have put almost thousands under financial pressure for their need to conduct the IPL. This is not just bad but unjust to the lower middle class and poor people staying over here hardly having any savings or secondary income with them to satisfy their basic needs.

Can you please elaborate on this? How is IPL putting financial pressure on lower middle class and poor people? Genuine question

So apparently some fake news was spread about Moeen asking to remove a sponsor's logo because it’s an alcoholic drink, and he is now receiving abuse about his religion :facepalm
If he chooses to remove the logo and forgo any compensation from the sponsor, or even if he doesn’t, it’s his personal decision, how the hell does it affect you? People seriously need to get a life, social media has poisoned our collective brain.
Also, just found out that RCB are named after a beer brand, and honestly, not surprised :rolleyes
We should be focusing on the game not what any cricketer has his personal opinions about.

See the situation is that the lockdown has been put on the general public but there is no restriction to conduct the IPL. Now if the general public aren't working due to lockdown where would they earn from? I don't have a problem with lockdown but with these unequal rights where these IPL administrators would earn at the expense of general public. You have an option to postpone the league like you did last time or maybe move it to somewhere else eg- UAE then why expose people to the virus by conducting it?

If anyone wants to watch real, fearless attacking T20 cricket, then Rajasthan Royals are the team to watch. Samson, Buttler, Stokes.. wow! In their bid to produce spectacular cricket, they might be a bit reckless but thats fine- they are the only attacking, reckless team in this tournament. All the other teams are boring and defensive in IPL. Rajasthan embody the spirit of Morgan's England with players like Sanju and Jofra.

Oh okay, got it. Not a direct link, but just general rules not applying to all. Its like the Central Govt and judiciary, asking people to be cautious and stay home and wear masks (even if driving alone) but not a peep out of them regarding conducting election rallies where half the people are without masks and no one is following social distancing.

Although one could argue, that the little guys involved in the logistics of carrying out such a huge tournament would be grateful that IPL is going ahead, else they would probably be without any jobs as well.

They have to heed to the powers who have elections to conduct, ok - lets give these poor souls a break

Even without the IPL occurring the lockdown may have been in place in any case due to the upsurge in cases.

I am a big IPL fan. I did have a dip in interest in the middle seasons but IPL gives me a little sanity during the months of April, May and June when the only other sport I might follow is baseball going on. While I want the IPL to go on, I do not want the IPL to go on at the expense of the staff. As mentioned in my previous post, the players will get the highest available attention medical wise, these middle class staffers will not get that. What BCCI should have done is exactly what @wasteyouryouth said, have IPL conducted in 2-3 stadiums that are close by. I would definitely not IPL happening in Mumbai since there are shit load of cases right now. They could have played IPL in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. Bengaluru Chennai is a 50 min flight and so is Hyderabad Chennai. Bengaluru Hyderabad is a 2 hour flight. Easy to manage, good host cities and less risks.

Heck, you can also play in Kochi and leave Hyderabad out.
