LMAO, considering that I had expected to finish this project off over last summer (that would be August 2006), I would say this isn't that much longer. ;)

I'm happy to reveal that the core structure beneath the selection/contract algorithm has been completed. What needs to be added to it now is a few fall-back measures, such as the user being notified if their position has been "usurped" (to put it in the words of pal) and having to go to a different club... and also the additional aspects of the random possibility that the user is offered a contract by the team they are going to, or a conditional scenario (score such and such, with such and such centuries) that they have to complete to earn a contract, etc.

Finally got around to fixing the OD engine bowling selections. Now specialist bowlers will go ahead and finish their bowling unless they're too expensive. Also, as far as possible, specialists bowl the first 20 overs and the last 10 overs. Of course, the random probabilities in the middle overs mean that sometimes specialist bowlers are used up. Bah... I think this is slightly more intellectual than Battrick's style of setting the bowling orders.

So that leaves the check list kind of bare:
1. Add club competitions and all related items
2. Add contracts to human selections if performance is up to it, sometimes conditional

After this, I will assume core features are complete. Then there will be adding of "content" as follows:
1. More scenarios.
2. Games (such as gambling and such).
3. More shops and more items.
4. More ways to spend money. :D

If anyone with experience with vB or SMF or really any forum software supporting arcade has any idea about how the internal reporting for games works, then I may be able to implement a performance-based system so that you can earn cash by playing open-source flash games (because I'm not really good at it).

Hard-disk crash. Again.

Have got the computer up and running but seems like it will be difficult even to back everything up, as slow as it is. Will go for a full reinstall thereafter. Luckily I have 190 GB of disk space lying around.

PC. Server is hosted on a datacenter somewhere so I don't really have any control over it apart from remote admin. :D

Well thanks. I have to confess that I've had even less time to work on it given that I started work a week back. Hopefully I'll hit my 20-day deadline in some way.

Well I just found a nasty bug in my OD Engine which causes bowlers to bowl many overs repeatedly because my bowler changing algorithm tries to be too natural. I have decided to rewrite that bit (I should actually rewrite both engines from scratch just to organize things a bit, but that can be procrastinated further) and hopefully I will have tested and changed that over the next few days.

Also, unless I hit a purple patch of programming (do you dig the alliteration?), it is very unlikely that Beta, Phase-II will be ready by Aug. 26. I have a nice large text file of things I want to get done but unfortunately the last few changes to that file only make it larger.

I have rewritten the bowler changing algorithm in the OD engine and it's now working fairly well. There are still a few problems with status changes and such. I will begin working on the club tournament today.

If you need any help, I'm free and willing. I could help out a bit if you tell me how to code and stuff :p

Hehe, thanks for the open-ended offer.

I did quite a bit of work on the club competition today. I think by tomorrow I should have the club competition up and running which means there will just be one main thing left: contracts! There are also a few other long-term things that I will be looking at (appears at the end of this post).

Meanwhile, watch out tomorrow for a way for everyone to help: by naming a club. I will be putting a form up tomorrow wherein anyone who wants to can name a club in the competition. There are 432 clubs (16 per state and 27 states) so there's plenty for everyone to go around. You can name more than one as well. You can also choose exactly which state and which division you want your club to be in.

And now, my list of TODO's currently looks like this:

1. Paid training sessions to be removed after completed (NEED TO TEST)
2. Add club competition tournament and the like (IN PROGRESS)
3. Move statistics manipulation to it's own class
4. Implement day-by-day play for FC games
5. Implement extras
6. Implement commentary
7. Set up automatic database back-up script
8. Investigate ODEngine scores being the likes of 250/2 with batsmen not attacking and wickets not falling.
9. Investigate stumpings not being displayed in the scorecard (or perhaps being written to scorecard)
10. Implement fielding stats tracking.
11. First class domestic declarations are sometimes too sporting. Tweak.
12. Investigate Ranji OD tournament status being set to something earlier after completion.

Well, many of this is not relevant to the end-user but some of it is. Most importantly, these are not in order of importance. ;)

I now have a club name submission form up. You can choose the state and division for the club you want to name. When the game is live, you will be able to request a club if you are a PC member.
