Semifinals and Final

Jolly well played India. WC and other Indians will all be delighted no doubt.

How was the game? Missed all of it due to college.

The inexperienced team with the negative board who had a match washed out won the Twenty20 World Championships. Congratulations India!

This has been a hugely successful tournament and it has wiped out the disaster which was the World Cup earlier in the year. Cricket is back on the up and it has made a great start to the 2007/08 season.

In some sense they finally paid the price for that woeful top order. Misbah shouldn't have had to play under pressure with tailenders; surely he had scored enough runs to show his innings were wasted at no. six.

Exactly. A team can only get away with a crappy top order for so long before it costs them big even in such a short format as this. Well done to Misbah for playing the way he did, though he ought to be bitch slapped for playing that shot with 6 to win off 4 balls.

Congratulations to India, well done on coming back and winning this, though I hope I don't sound bitter when I say that Pakistan lost this match rather than India winning it.

BTW, would it be fair to say that Hafeez dropped the World Cup when he dropped Sharma and caused a six?

Misbah played a superb innings. Don't get too upset with him. He had to try and finish it off. Maybe the choice of shot was wrong. Blame the other batsmen for throwing it away. Especially Afridi...

Poor guy, I felt sorry for him in the end, but India have pulled off an amazing win. :D Once again this guy Joginder Sharma comes and pulls off an unbelievable last over!!! :)

Wow, such a great match. Misbah was so close but couldn't break the jinx again, earlier got run out and not gave away the trophy. Both teams played like champions, we just were a bit more lucky :p

Congratulations India !! Yahoooo !! World Cup final, can't get better than this, though it is Twenty20 Cup :happy

I agree with NP--Pakistan lost this game more than India won it. But credit has to be given to our bowlers for at least putting it in the right place and especially to Dhoni for attacking correctly throughout the innings. Three batsmen played awful shots--Younis, Malik and Afridi. You can't afford to do that if you wanna win.

And as an addendum, Pakistan have still not been able to beat India in a World Cup-esque tournament. :)

Harbhajan has bowled like crap all tournament. Even today, he's been crapping out full-tosses every ball.

No way, not all tournament. If not for his one over against Australia, we wouldnt have been in the final. Even against South Africa, he did really well. In the group match against Pakistan, he got the danger man Afridi and bowled very well. He had one bad match today.

Well done India! I am ecstatic. India have gone in with a plan and Dhoni's captaincy has brought about a definate change. The ploy of bowling Joginder in the last over worked once again as his line and length means the batsman have to improvise which is extremely hard in a pressure situation. Dhoni realised that under 10 is easy in the last over regardless of the bowler so he again used RP Singh to attempt to win it before the final over. The ploy was not entirely successful but it worked in the long term.

From the tournament, it is apparent that:

-Irfan Pathan has returned as a wiley operator who can operate brilliantly with either the keeper up or back. He has also reached paces that he never realised before and occasionally touches 140kph which is brilliant.

-RP Singh is a legend! He is very quick these days and with the exception of the odd 'Harmison ball', he is very accurate and gets bounce. He was India's best bowler.

-Sreesanth is a daisy bowler but his good days may make up for his bad ones as he is certainly the reason India were in the final.

-Joginder Sharma holds a good line and length at 75mph but may be more suited to the longer game rather than ODIs or twenty20s.

-Gambhir and Sehwag are good together and although Sehwag failed a few times, their running together is good. As before, when Sehwag fired, he made boundaries effortless but unfortunately, he fell a few times early on. Future opening pair in ODIs? I hope so since Gambhir is very good in twenty20 and there is no reason he should not convert that to ODIs.

-Yuvraj is a legend!

-Rohit Sharma is one for the future, he plays with a fine technique and his fielding is very good too. He won us the game against South Africa and did well today, India could not have won without him.

-Uthappa does not work too well at three nor does Dinesh Karthik. Uthappa's fifty against Pakistan at three was good but does not mean he is perfect for the position.

-Is it time up for the Big Three in ODIs, the young team showed the impact of great fielding and are capable batsman. We will see...

yeah Good luck to both team.. some extra luck to Pakistan :p..

I'll find the result when i come home switch to cricinfo.com.. and hope is i'll be happy lol.. i'll quote this post either happy or sad ":)" ":(" ....

:( haha good try Pakistan, I'm proud!

Indian bowlers have no respect at all.. and thats about it :).

Yeah Harbhajan has been fantastic throughout the tournament and has made a great comeback imo.

I think the credit for this win goes to Gambhir and RP Singh and Pathan. The overs by Sreesanth almost cost us the game, he went for 44 off 4 overs with 1 maiden
