I'm sure our English members have seen Bill Frindall have a segement where he answers questions from the pubilc and I've decided to do that myself.

Just ask me any question to do with stats and I'll try and answer it for you.

I'm not going to answer every question right like Bill Frindall does but I'm hoping to get 70% of my questions right.

Questions I got wrong:

One that will take a lot of research but I'm interested in :p

What are the odds of winning an ODI batting second compared to batting first in recent years? I feel that in some countries, especially NZ, chasing is a real advantage.

Well, this is a hard one first up but after a lot of reasearch I have answers.

Q. Who has been India's most successful number seven batsman in ODIs since 2000.

Rob, I think Colin was talking about a ground effect rather than a team effect regarding chasing. Personally, I think it's a combination of both.

Mohammed Kaif has the most runs for India batting at number 7 since 2000. He is also the only player to score an ODI century batting at number 7.

MS Dhoni is the next with 384 runs at an average 29.53 and Ifran Pathan is at third with 226 at an average of 18.83.

How many times in Michael Clarkes ODI career has he scored 50-99 not out?

Clarke as made 28 scores between 50 and 99 with 3 ODI hundreds.

How much does Dwayne Leverock weigh?

This isn't a question to do with cricket but to answer Leverock is apparently 20 stone.

Pretty shocked by some of those stats tbh. I was looking in the first place at the overall effect so great work sussing it all out, and in the second place at whether the trend is excerbated by factors such as time of year, day/night games and country the games are played in.
From what sivijay has posted it would appear that you definitely want to chase in England (if you are England) and in NZ and Pakistan. Might start another thread with those stats in mind.

....it would appear that you definitely want to chase in England
Although domestically that's not the case. Of the games that heralded a result in Pro40 and FPT last season, 55.7% were won by the team batting first, 42.8% by the team batting second and 1.4% were tied results. This includes games decided on D/L.

PS. I'm not going to do 10 years worth!

Who were the top 5 English batsmen and bowlers in FC cricket last year??

Also who were the best averaging batsmen and bowlers in county cricket under the age of 23? I know I could look but I'm lazy and I was wondering just how much talent there is at Englands disposal.

I am not going to directly answer your question because that is Robo's job, but I will say that Kabir Ali has a better strike rate in all cricket than Muttiah Muralidaran, Shane Warne, Curtly Ambrose and Glenn McGrath.
