It is here - finally - alpha 0.1 released!!!!

Hey, Looking really good. I really need to get a look at this. Any chance of a Mac build? I understand that the tech Paul used to make the game can target Mac quite easily. Hopefullly! If not, I'll have to fire up my Windows 7 partition, but I'd rather not! I must say it looks really...

Codemasters Next World Cup Cricket Title Rumour?

If you want to make money from cricket, you sell it to the sub-continent. I bet there are a lot of people from the sub-continent who would play a WOW-style cricket game.

Codemasters Next World Cup Cricket Title Rumour?

The post above mentioning WOW (plus my new awareness of Tiger Woods Online) made me think: what about a cricket game which sees you starting a franchise, a bit like IPL and playing against people over the internet. You could buy upgrades for training, transfers and stuff like that etc. Could...

    TAOC Discussion

It's something I've been thinking about approaching LM for. Especially now I've almost finished my MSc dissertation (which was developing a piece of cricket games tech!) and need a new project. There's too much good stuff to there to let it go to waste, in my opinion.

    Improvements For The Next Title

I was trying to avoid suggesting additional features (like rain, bad light) and concentrate more on the game engine and how it portrays cricket, like the balance between bat and ball, etc.

    Improvements For The Next Title

Here's something I started writing a while ago. Not finished, but I've lost the motivation to play any more. Confidence Consecutive boundaries (or maybe even one ball apart) should have a multiplier effect on confidence gained for that ball. If I bash three fours in a row, I expect to be...

    Bouncers

The problem with this is that if you timed your shot very wrongly, so you should by all rights miss the ball, if the path of the ball happens to intercept the bat for that animation, you wont actually miss the ball. There are two ways of looking at this. Firstly, that's fine, as the shot...

    Bouncers

It's not the bounce that's the problem, per se. It's that the path of the ball interpolates to reach the middle of the bat for the shot chosen by the game. If the animation chosen is wrong, then the bounce of the ball looks wrong.

    Bouncers

The animations used in the game are clearly divided into front-foot and back-foot, but for some reason it's picking the wrong ones, sometimes even when you choose your own footwork. The direction of shot you choose will have several animations which 'fit' for that direction. So if you're...

LBW not hitting the stumps !

What would also help is a caption at the bottom saying why it was not out, if it shouldn't be out. Especially for things like 'hitting the batsman outside the line of off stump', as it's not directly clear that that's what the reason was. Also, a word from the commentators would be nice...

    IC10 playtest @ Codemasters - 4 June

The sounds and designed to fit in with the idea of being on the pitch as opposed to watching it on TV, so you hear the bowlers footsteps when you are bowling, for example.

PlanetCricket Exclusive Interview with IC10 Lead Designer Heath Smith

Just seen it on the Sky Sports website. That's definitely not me batting! It was just some guy from some magazine having a bat. I did face Stuart Broad for a while though. Hopefully there's some footage of it going to come out at some point. It was good fun.

    Gamespot Crosshairs previews IC2010

Heath Smith: Media Darling. What gives? Two years with barely a public peep from you, and then videos all over the place! Good interview though. I like the point you make about playing by 'feel', as that's something I thought was accentuated greatly by the Action Cam when batting, whether or...
