I think this is a good way of starting the help process.
Run (Press your Windows Key and R) "dxdiag"
Once you're in dxdiag, click the button "Save All Information"
That will ask you to save a txt file, it doesn't matter where you save it so log as you know where you save it. The important thing is that you copy the contents and paste it when you ask for help. It doesn't tell us everything, but it tells us a lot. When you ask for help, it will tell us a lot about your system.
This is going to be a continuous thread for Mods and Admins (and regular users if they care to PM) to give off-the-cuff default advice.
