Dublin Destroyers vs. Chennai Champions

@ Rebbit Gardens

Welcome as DD clash with CC in a must win game. Dublin absolutely need to win this if they want a shot at making the Semis, whereas CC would want to win this to make sure there is no chance of them losing out on their Semi-final berth. Both sides going in unchanged after impressive performances, and Dublin, playing at home, will be looking to do something they've struggled to do this whole season. Win. The pitch is Hard and Chennai have opted to bowl first, fancying their chances to chase whatever target is set. Will that ploy work? Or will Dublin finally have some luck go their way? Lets head to the pitch to find out...

0.1 Pal to Simbazz, Ahhh that's poor fielding. The batsman taps it away for a single, and the fielder fires in an over-eager throw well wide of the stumps. No one is backing up and some the batsmen run two more! The captain isn't happy! (3)
0.2 Pal to Highlander999, And the camera pans to show a hot chick in Row C. Rumours have it that she is either Zorax's date for the night, or an assasin out to kill him. I guess we'll find out one way or another by tommorrow...oh, right. No run. (0)
0.3 Pal to Highlander999, Gosh, how unlucky can you be. He's absolutely nailed that, but straight to the fielder. No run. (0)
0.4 Pal to Highlander999, Inside edge, and past the stumps. The batsmen take a quick single (1)
0.5 Pal to Simbazz, The bowlers runs in, the batsman taps his bat, and...oooohhhh! An aeroplane! Huh, what? Oh right, no run it seems. (0)
0.6 Pal to Simbazz, Shortish delivery on the stumps, the batsman backs away and swats it to cover for a single (1)

The final scorecard for first innings was :
Score: 192
Wickets : 6
Overs : 20.0

And a MASSIVE score posted here by Dublin, as they rampaged their way to 192. Jack Hobbs has been in good touch recently and continued that fine form with a glorious 84. Offcutters weighed in with a useful fifty as well, keeping the run rate up and giving Hobbs a lot of strike. But those two fine performances were overshadowed by some crazy hitting from Hooper, who hammered Adyhorn for four sixes in the 19th over, taking Dublin from 159 to the 180s, and topped it off with a boundary off the final ball to push Dublin past 190. His furious hitting gives Dublin a massive chance of grabbing a much needed win and their second win in a row. But Chennai will not fold easily, and it'll be interesting to see how they approach this runchase. Stay tuned as we find out after a short break!

The final scorecard for second innings was :
Score: 138
Wickets : 5
Overs : 20.0

And the Dublin Dream continues with a massive victory over Chennai! Cricketman apart, no one in the batting lineup could handle Dublin's pace attack. Particularly Chris Bosnich, who's innings was terribly out of place and made KI's stodgy, match losing innings earlier in the night look like a merry slog! Who scores at a strike rate of 67 in a T20? Biggy, Barmyarmy and Age of the fall made runs hard to come by, while Bart King took four wickets with 2 at either side of the innings, as Dublin wrapped up a comfortable 54 run victory. With this loss, Dublin have taken over Chennai as 4th in the table, and by virtue of NRR, could very well make it into the semis!

Chennai Champions vs. Dublin Destroyers

Dublin Destroyers - 192/6 in 20.0 overs.
Chennai Champions - 138/5 in 20.0 overs.

Dublin Destroyers wins the match by 54 runs

Man of The Match: I know it should be Jack Hobbs or Bart King, but I'm giving it to Hooper, for the sheer momentum-shifting, gut wrenching, tide turning, confidence shattering impact his innings had.

Oh. My. Gosh. We got battered but Cricketman played well. I was poor, 2(2) and 1-49(4).

30 from 7 balls from Hooper. Wow, just wow.
On the table I'm not sure this does put us 4th. I think we still need to win our last game and hope CC lose. Certainly helps the NRR though.

Yep. CC have to lose theirs and you have to win yours. If that happens you should mostly be in, having a better NRR and now this game.

Just checked the fixtures...

Beijing v Dublin @ The Golden Dragon Stadium
Vatican v Chennai @ The Pope's Backyard
Man D v Toronto @ Monkey Park

We defeat CC and you defeat Beijing, then its most likely MD, VV, BB and DD in the semis. You lose to BB and it might be either CC or TT in the semis.

We losing to Chennai is a completely new story though. In that case I think MD, VV, BB and CC will be through, the last three all with 14 points.
