I wish this series involved Pakistan too and then it would be clash of subcontinent rivals. This is just meh! A 4 team T20 series with sc teams would have been interesting. But then again there is an Asia cup coming up as well.

After such a great SA tour, where we witnessed several great matches played, India are back to playing useless series again. I mean, what does the BCCI and the fans get out of watching developing sides like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka? Only money and no entertainment whatsoever.

It's good that the senior players are being rested. This is still a good opportunity for guys like Pandey and Raina prove themselves and try to hold their place down in the ODI squads and the XI in particular.

Good team selection. It makes sense that Dhawan is the vice captain as he has been a consistent run scorer in limited overs formats for India. And with Rahane not showing up to be suitable for limited overs formats, it makes sense that Dhawan is the backup deputy.

Good time for Raina, Pandey and Karthik to really sink their teeth into this series and make a super strong case for a place in that middle order for the first match of the World Cup next year. If we play the final, India get to play 5 T20 games. And actually, a T20 is the best way to showcase that Raina and Pandey can handle the middle and lower order duties. With Rohit/Dhawan/Kohli expected to bat for 30-35 overs in most ODI games during the World Cup, the likes of Pandey/Raina/Dhoni/Pandya/Karthik will mostly be batting during the ending stages of an ODI innings, which would almost exactly mirror a T20 game. Karthik also showed yesterday against South Africa that he has the game to come in and clear the boundaries.

The new guys (Sundar, Shankar, Hooda, Pant, etc.) are more of long term visions and not necessarily World Cup options. But good that they are getting their chances. Would be my XI here

LOL. What an absolute joke of a post . Sri Lanka still haven't found their footing yet without Sanga and Jayawardene. It's odd you bring up a WC final that was 7 years ago and they had all good, experienced players with them at top form. The group of players changes over the years and the newcomers haven't been able to much. The SL batsmen have potential, but their bowling is pathetic. On that CT match, that was the flattest of all pitches and it was their day, their batting clicked and ever since then they've looked hapless. They are a poor side currently.

What's the point of resting Pandya ? Has he improved his game in SA tour ? Certainly his batting was below par. He was rested in SL series which we played before touring SA. He hasn't had workload like Bhuvi, Bumrah and Kohli. He is not established player like MSD. And we are resting him again. This is a ridiculous decision taken by the selectors. They are giving way too much importance to Pandya who definitely doesn't deserve it.
