A simple analysis of cricket's One Day International Format. The data I have is up until 29th October 2017. It is a simple analysis as I am just learning about who leads the chart with maximum number of ODI's won in history of ODI's. The data begins from 1st ever ODI played between Australia and England in Melbourne on January 5th 1971.

Here is the outcome.

@FireAndBlood

It is a no surprise at all that Australia are leading the way with more than 555 wins as almost its almost March and I have data almost 6 months old. What is interesting is out of 3932 ODI's played till October 29th 2017 only 34 matches have been tied.

Also what is interesting is England the country that gave Cricket to the world is struggling on the 7th position. I am pretty sure that will change going ahead as England has a strong ODI setup now.

It is not at all surprising the see South Africa leads the way in terms of winning percentage. Over the years the team has played fantastic and have always got strong players coming in despite the domestic structure not as famous and good as the Australian or as heavy as England or India. I recently mentioned in other thread that this South Africa lineup after a long time is the weakest where the entire middle order is rebuilding at the same time.

Coming up next remaining teams Winning % and Matches played. I am interested because I want to see how new teams like Ireland and Afghanistan lineup against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Top 10 Grounds That Have Hosted Most Amount Of ODI Matches

Ground|Country|Matches Hosted
Sharjah|United Arab Emirates|228
Dhaka|Bangladesh|156
Sydney|Australia|154
Melbourne|Australia|147
Harare|Zimbabwe|136
Colombo|Sri Lanka|124
Adelaide|Australia|82
Perth|Australia|80
Brisbane|Australia|77
Auckland|New Zealand|76

This is a very interesting piece of stats. The country that has played most amount of ODI's India does not have a ground that is in Top 10. Infact the first ground that comes in the list is Eden Gardens at 37th position with 30 matches that are hosted. Now I think it makes sense that Australia has most of amount grounds in Top 10 list seeing the countries size and number of ground they have in compared to the number of grounds India or England would have. Very interesting to see Sharjah leads the way with 228 matches as it now also is a second home to Associate teams as well as Pakistan.

There has been 30 instances of 1 run victory margin in history of ODI cricket up until 29th October 2017.

Australia have played 7 out of those 30 matches and have come out victorious only 3 times. The most recent one was that fabulous match in Abu Dhabi against Pakistan where Pakistan just choked up in the end and were not able to score 1 run in I guess 3-4 overs?

History Of India vs Pakistan Cricket in Pakistan (ODI's)

India and Pakistan share a rich history not just in terms of cricket but in terms of politics, culture, arts, food and much more. Brits did divide both the country with the help of few internal people and created this massive hole of hatred and anger amongst both the countries. Although people are similar, the taste is similar also one of the biggest passion in sports of Cricket is also similar.

Pakistan and India have played 27 times in Pakistan. The relation of playing in each others country depends on the political scenario but fans in Pakistan have been lucky to watch India vs Pakistan rivalry 27 times in Pakistan. The encounter has taken place in 10 different stadiums. That is the beauty of India or Pakistan games. Both the country has been lucky to have so many stadiums that can host international matches.

Now lets take a look at some stats on the list of grounds that arranged these encounters.

Pakistan has the upper hand in terms of overall victory against India all over the world. In Pakistan the story is no different. Out of 27 encounters, Pakistan has won 14 matches and India has won 11 matches with 2 matches having no result.

India have played 7 matches in Karachi and 6 matches in Lahore. All other cities have hosted India for 2 or less matches. Karachi has been a happy ground for India as they have won 4 matches out of 7 that are played in Karachi with 1 being no result.
