Reading a really good book called 'A lot of hard Yakka' by Simon Hughes. It's a county cricketer's diary kept during the 1980's.
It has a great Geoffrey Boycott Sledge I thought I was worth sharing. Boycott is blocking ball after ball in typical style playing for Yorkshire against Middlesex. Phil Edmond's is bowling at him and getting bored of his constant blocking.
EDMONDS: 'Jesus. You will certainly never die of a stroke will you Geoffrey?!'
BOYCOTT: 'I've got 48,000 First Class runs. Average 56. I must have played a few strokes in my time to get them. Either that or all the bowlers are rubbish.'
There really is no coming back to that one is there?!
