With three different formats all jostling for space on the international calendar, I sometimes find it interesting (and a bit frustrating) trying to pick elevens for all three formats without any players playing more than one format.

It's not just about which players are best at which formats, it's also about which formats you choose to prioritise. For instance, if you were an England selector you might choose to prioritise the format your team is best at (ODIs), but do you do so at the expense of the other formats?

That Indian Test side is just... the Indian Test side. Very nicely done.

:aus: :bat: Matt Renshaw
:aus: :bat: Joe Burns
:aus: :bat: Usman Khawaja
:aus: :bat: Steve Smith (Peter Handscomb)
:aus: :bat: Shaun Marsh
:aus: :wk: Tim Paine :c:
:aus: :ar: Jack Wildermuth
:aus: :bwl: James Pattinson
:aus: :bwl: Josh Hazlewood
:aus: :bwl: Peter Siddle
:aus: :bwl: Nathan Lyon
:aus: :bwl: Steve O'Keefe (12th Man)

Probably still a batsman light, but this is the best I can really do. O'Keefe is 12th man for when it spins or when James Pattinson smashes his glass back.

Handscomb as the Smith replacement was a tricky choice but his Test record edged out Jake Lehmann.
:aus: :bat: David Warner (Jake Weatherald)
:aus: :bat: Travis Head
:aus: :bat: Callum Ferguson
:aus: :bat: George Bailey :c:
:aus: :ar: Mitchell Marsh
:aus: :ar: Marcus Stoinis
:aus: :wkb: Alex Carey
:aus: :ar: Pat Cummins
:aus: :bwl: Mitchell Starc
:aus: :bwl: Adam Zampa
:aus: :bwl: Usman Qadir
:aus: :ar: James Faukner (12th Man)

A nice, balanced team here; Faulkner as 12th man can essentially cover for any of the bottom six in the order getting injured.

Weatherald is my surrogate Warner; edges out Dan Hughes through sheer aggression.
:aus: :bat: Aaron Finch :c:
:aus: :ar: D'Arcy Short
:aus: :bat: Chris Lynn
:aus: :ar: Glenn Maxwell
:aus: :ar: Ashton Turner
:aus: :wkb: Ben McDermott
:aus: :ar: Ashton Agar
:aus: :bwl: Nathan Coulter-Nile
:aus: :bwl: Andrew Tye
:aus: :bwl: Fawad Ahmed
:aus: :bwl: Billy Stanlake
:aus: :bwl: Jason Behrendorff (12th Man)

In this side, I kinda struggled to justify picking Andrew Tye over Jason Behrendorff, but as the incumbent he just edges it. Also have to hope McDermott stops running himself out.

This is weird - each of these seems stronger than the current Australian team in its respective format. Y'all have awful selectors.

I could have placed Kohli in the ODI side but felt there is no replacement for him in the Tests. In ODIs, Iyer is there and more!

@zimrahil In T20, how can you have Pant as keeper if you are playing Karthik. He is much better than him! Shahbaz Nadeem in Tests? Deepak Chahar in ODIs? We have already seen that he sucks in one dayers. It is better to have bumrah in one dayers because there are no death bowlers. Lost of problems. I forgot about Manish Pandey. I will change my side.

I assume you meant to tag me.

- So what ? DK is there as specialist batsmen, experience in middle order and for his captaincy. If there is a collapse, DK can give stability too.
- Nadeem has very good record and experience in Ranji/ first class. He is there as "backup" for jaddu and Ashwin.
- So, you are judging chahar by only one game ? He needs more chance and again he is there as backup.
- If Bumrah goes to ODI, then there is no one to lead the pacers in T20. Thats why I have included Bumrah in T20. I know he dserves to be in ODI, but need some experience in T20 too. So, Bumrah is in the team for T20I. If I move Bumrah to ODI, T20 will be spineless attack. Bhuvi is good in death too. And I believe that the more exposure Khaleel gets, he can be good too.

I am keeping balance in all 3 formats.

Dhoni should be in the Test team because he plays Test cricket in ODIs.

I've done another:

:wi: :bat: Kraigg Brathwaite
:wi: :bat: Kieran Powell
:wi: :bat: Darren Bravo
:wi: :bat: Shiv Chanderpaul
:wi: :ar: Roston Chase
:wi: :bat: Shamarh Brooks
:wi: :ar: Jason Holder :c:
:wi: :wk: Shane Dowrich
:wi: :bwl: Devendra Bishoo
:wi: :bwl: Kemar Roach
:wi: :bwl: Shannon Gabriel
:wi: :ar: Imran Khan (12th man)

A long-overdue recall for Darren Bravo, and Shiv Chanderpaul is still one of the five best available batsmen even well into his fifth decade. This is actually a better-than-full-strength XI, even without Shai Hope (who would ideally come in for Brooks and bat four).
:wi: :bat: Evin Lewis
:wi: :ar: Jonathan Carter
:wi: :wkb: Shai Hope :c:
:wi: :bat: Shimron Hetmyer
:wi: :bat: Sunil Ambris
:wi: :ar: Marlon Samuels
:wi: :ar: Rovman Powell
:wi: :ar: Ashley Nurse
:wi: :bwl: Alzarri Joseph
:wi: :bwl: Jerome Taylor
:wi: :bwl: Sheldon Cottrell
:wi: :bat: Jason Mohamed (12th man)

It's a slightly awkward side to assemble, but it has lots of batting and bowling options. Jonathan Carter steps up as opener because he's more able than Chandrapaul Hemraj and has a better temperament than Johnson Charles.
:wi: :bat: Chris Gayle
:wi: :bat: Johnson Charles
:wi: :ar: Sherfane Rutherford
:wi: :ar: Kieron Pollard
:wi: :ar: Andre Russell
:wi: :wk: Denesh Ramdin
:wi: :ar: Daren Sammy :c:
:wi: :ar: Carlos Brathwaite
:wi: :ar: Sunil Narine
:wi: :bwl: Samuel Badree
:wi: :bwl: Oshane Thomas
:wi: :bat: Andre McCarthy (12th man)

It's the West Indies - T20 specialists are ten-a-penny. I love that this is a side with nine batting and eight bowling options.
