The politics behind West Indies cricket...difficult to follow. The fans are the ones who suffer. I'm just thankful that I can at least see cricket on TV. There have been series in the past...local matches...international matches...no TV coverage no radio coverage no nothing. I had to hack into a stream from some random country.

If you push the fans behind you, you'll lose everything. Simple.

Well this is a rather dead topic, let's bump it.

With West Indian domestic cricket, it's always kinda hard to pick out promising batsmen by stats alone. If the alternative is just to eyeball a batsman and trust your instincts then I've no idea why Brandon King isn't already an all-format player for the WIndies

Another poor move by the West Indies Cricket board

Appoints Pollard as ODI & T20I Captain
Coming back to the topic, I think it was a very good move. Pollard's Captaincy looks very dynamic and effective along with him contributing with the bat. I think for sure he can take West Indies Cricket forward. I think he backs his players well and gives them confidence. I feel I should eat my own words now. :p

Brandon King
To me he looked more like a limited overs player. Looks very destructive and has an attitude to dominate the bowling at will. Such players often don't succeed much in Test matches. Btw not aware of his FC record, this is solely based on what I've seen of him.

True. I don't think they have a single batsman who averages over 40 in FC.

While there definitely was no way but up after Holder's horrendous captaincy, Pollard still deserves credit for his general management and fresh approach to tactics. If only he was more than a part-time bowler, West Indies would look a lot more balanced on paper.

  1. Lewis (a hitter of his ability is too good to be left out even if his ODI career has so far not been great)
  2. Ambris
  3. Hope (bit of a risk as he is not an accumulator but I would rather see the powerplay used better rather than him playing blockathon with the odd boundary)
  4. Pooran
  5. Hetmyer
  6. Pollard
  7. Russell? (if fit and motivated, there is no better player you would require. If not, push Holder up and play both Joseph and Thomas)
  8. Holder
  9. Walsh? (definitely need a better player here but Walsh is the best option right now)
  10. Cottrell
  11. Joseph/Thomas

Holder's horrendous captaincy? The hell? He's a good captain, a bit defensive at times but I have survived through worse.

Right now I wouldn't touch Hope with a 10 foot pole.

Blackwood is suited to limited overs, I'd give him a game. Everyone forgets that Narine actually still plays the 50 over game too.

I'd not back Russel in ODIs right now. Too injury prone. You won't get 10 overs of quality from him anymore.

Keemo Paul is a guy I think can become a good ODI all rounder.
