Willey wouldn't get a gig for CSK anyway the pie-chucker. I told him so on Twitter last season. So a bit of a sniff for Royals at one stage but that was always the Sunrisers game. As for Jofra Archer...

I don't know - he thinks he is better than he really is.

I disagree. I would have Willey in place of Thakur. At least one can swing his pies well, and can bat better.

As for a replacement, how about Sheldon Cottrell? He’s a leftie, which could add variation to the pace attack too.

And he says "Oh this is IPL and not club cricket, and so these errors should not happen". Wake up kid! This is indeed club cricket. Just because a lot of people watch it doesn't mean it does not become club cricket.

It is Professional league Cricket and not Club Cricket

Cottrell the WI saluting guy? How annoying that was in the Caribbean tour. Best was when Buttler smashed him all over the park and saluted him back!

But in ability terms I agree, Cottrell a fine replacement. The only thing I can defend Willey for is his batting.

As a Chennai fan I am looking forward, from an English POV too, to seeing Sam Billings. Maybe tomorrow he will play.

15.5 crores on the bench for Kings XI and then people wonder why CSK keep bashing everyone in the IPL every year!

Having both Yuvi and Polly is just a pain in the ass.
Bring in Ishan/Anmolpreet and big Ben is way better than the Pollard of now.

Oh yes I forgot about the 'base price' thing. Willey pulling out actually gives CSK the option to spend 2 crores (instead of the 50 lakh they spent on Ngidi) and get a good pacer. I really wish they focus hard on finding a seamer who is genuinely fast, and has the control to bowl very tight at the death. That has been the Achilles heel for CSK. If they get that, they should be in good shape. Ngidi came in late last season and bloomed. Wonder who would it be this season. I doubt they will look for a replacement for Ngidi if they get one for Willey. I am sure CSK is thinking that they can do with their spinners this season, which I dont think will be the case. I am sure they will hit quite a few flat and hard pitches and they need a fast seamer who has good control.

Oh well they have decided not to replace David Willey which is a bit surprising but they have brought in Scott Kuggelejin for Ngidi. Scott can bowl quickly and can bat as well and also he won't be leaving early since I doubt he will be in NZ WC squad. However, it will be interesting to see how he does on Indian wickets if given a chance.

It seems like there is a law which does not allow franchises to replace players who pull out of the tournament for non-injury reasons. That's why CSK could not replace David Willey. TBH, I feel that's a rubbish law. Why should a team be penalised because a player opts out of the tournament?

And I am surprised by this "Scott Kuggeleijn" replacement. Why opt for a player who has sexual harassment allegations on him and could get public sentiment moving against him and the team he plays in? He is not any great shakes, anyways. His economy is 8.14 or something. Hope Fleming has made the right call.
