Tapsh Basiya played 21 Test and picked 36 wickets at an average of nearly 60 .i.e. 59.36.
Made his debut for Bangladesh at the age of 19 had a bit of slingly action and used to put a whole lot of effort in his bowling and I remember watching him open the bowling alongside Mashrafae Mortaza in the early 2000s although he always went for plenty and his ODI stats are even worse.

Stats : M - 21 I - 29 W - 36 Avg - 59.36 BBI - 72/4

Bigby's XI :

1.:bat: Lawrence Miller :nz:
2.
3.

10.:bwl:Abdur Razzak :ban:
11.:bwl: Tapash Basiya :ban:

Test Caps - 56/100.

@Aislabie please tag the next participant the list on the 2nd page is a bit confusing for me.

Apologies for the delay, been very busy.

MANJURUL ISLAM - Bangladesh. 17 Tests with 81 runs at 3.68 and 28 wickets at 57.32 and a strike rate of 106. Will form a toothless new ball attack with Matambanadzo, and they give me 2 solid number 11s

I feel a bit for Tapash; I always felt that he could have been a real Test-class bowler if he'd been nurtured a bit better, but that was at the time that 'Deshi seamers were thrown to the wolves when they were still kids and made to bowl either on roads or dustbowls

The draft order is on the very first page. It's usually pretty up to date and easy to figure out who's next (the person after the list of players ends)

340px-Jack_Badcock_1930s.jpg

I pick Jack Badcock, possessor of the mighty Sheffield Shield average of 58.88 and overall first-class average of 51.54, but a complete dud at Test level. Over 7 Tests between 1936 and 1938, he could manage only 160 runs at 14.54 with only one score in double figures - a century against England at the MCG in 1936/37. He scored a pathetic 32 runs at 4.57 from 8 innings during the 1938 tour of England, which still remains the worst performance till date by a top-order batsman in an Ashes series. Still, Don Bradman considered him ""a lovable and completely unspoiled personality – a great cricketer whose failures in the Tests in England in 1938 detract somewhat from an otherwise splendid record".

Ravi Bopara. Altough he averaged a decent 31 in his 13 Tests, numbers mask his utter mediocrity at the top level, due to his average being inflated by 3 centuries against weak West Indies bowling attacks. Out of his 575 runs, 355 came in those 3 innings. In the remaining 16 innings, he made 220 runs at 14. And with the ball in hand? 1 wicket, 290 runs conceded.

Honestly don't think this is a very good pick. It's one thing to say "apart from his good innings, he was terrible" but the man has three Test hundreds. That pretty much precludes him from belonging in this draft, much like Denesh Ramdin (four tons) shouldn't ever have been picked.

1. Emile McMaster:eng:
Undoubtedly the worst Test cricketer there has ever been, and therefore an excellent pick, but he absolutely cannot open the batting for you. This draft is about picking players in their real-life roles, so I'd object to McMaster batting any higher than number eight. For the sake of the draft, I'd recommend changing your batting order to - 6. :nzf: Chris Harris / 7. :wi: Denesh Ramdin / 8. :eng: Emile McMaster

1. :bat: Neil Fairbrother :eng:
Another one where I'd really like to remind you about the real-life roles rule: Fairbrother played all but one of his Test innings at five or six, and never batted above four. I can't agree to him opening the batting; Lawrie Miller absolutely was an opening batsman though

@VC the slogger and @Bevab both have picks to make

I agree a bit. I rushed the pick because i didn't have time to research today, but in my opinion, if someone is consistently awful over a dozen or so matches, then that is a better pick than a one-cap wonder (not referring to Bopara).

That's entirely fair enough; there's definitely more than one way to skin a cat

After taking a 5 fifer for on debut for South Africa against England in the famous 2004/05 series in the first innings and going wicketless in the 2nd Innings. The latter pretty much sums up the test career of Charl Langveldet , a ODI specialist renowned for his death bowling skills including a famous hattrick against the WI. Another reason perhaps would the selection policies in South Africa where he constantly in and out of the side across all three formats. He played only 6 tests and managed just 16 wickets after a fifer on debut.
Stats : Tests M - 6 W - 16 Avg - 37.1 BBI - 5/46.
