Now who will say Rishab Pant is MS-Dhoni alternative?
All crowds,twitter is against him
He should be forever removed from team and either Sanju,Karthik should be added

Note:No one can replace dhoni but we should atleast find it near alternative
India have 26 t20 matches to play before the t20 wc. Hang on, lets wait and see if Pant is your man. Dhoni is irreplaceble now, I agree. But he had served indian cricket for 16 years! And pant, samson are the newcomers.[DOUBLEPOST=1573406913][/DOUBLEPOST]
Deepak Chahar now has best bowling figures in T20I Cricket. :wave
What a bowling by the DC! Brilliant!

As I said previously in this thread, this is probably the sloppiest I have seen India play in a long time and Bangladesh still lost the series. I thought they had a golden chance to win this series even when they were only two down today. The ball was wet and there was dew which means India were under pressure. However, Shivam Dube I think changed the game when he got Mushfiqur first ball and took out Naim in the next over. Deepak Chahar was incredible whenever he was brought on to bowl. Even though Khaleel didn't have a great series, I feel he has enough ability to survive international cricket. However, he needs to show that improvement very quickly if he wants to make it to the WC squad. The one thing going for him is he is lefty which brings that much needed variation to our bowling attack.

My team for T20 WC looking at how things stand right now would be:

Rohit
Rahul
Kohli
Iyer
Pant
Hardik
Krunal
Washington/ Deepak Chahar
Bhuvi
Chahal/Kuldeep
Bumrah

Karthik/Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar/Washington, Chahal/Kuldeep, Khaleel Ahmed/Suryakumar Yadav

Yes this was the moment and even Luck gave Bangladesh chance to defeat India and create history like 2007 ICC CWC
but they did not accept

Dhoni is not irreplaceble now.He still have ability for best wicket-keeping and on-field decisions not only DRS but about field placing. Many Bowlers said after they got no wickets dhoni suddenly changed field even bowler denied and batsman got out!!!Kuldeep Yadhav said this in report. Also his batting is better than any current replacer we got till now

If all players as wicket-keeper fails to satisfy and show maturity selectors will still go for Dhoni for his great ability as described.Kohli also always praises him.

Is it any wonder that the bloke performs poorly when he's subjected to such insane criticism? You've got the usual Indian detractors, the Dhoni stans who are absolutely livid that someone dare to try and be better than their demigod and the latest set of fans who would rather watch India offer 'effort' and lose miserably to the stronger sides like a few decades ago than perform well with these new players who are supposedly full of 'attitude'.

And bring in Sanju 'one IPL wonder knock per season' Samson in? The one who is a part-time keeper now and can only bat in the top three?

Pant is very clearly not the same confident batsman he was a year ago. He still made mistakes, I remember him getting out unnecessarily in the tests versus Australia trying to slog Lyon over mid on. Yet, he still contributed and in the end scored a century in the last game. Now, on pitches like this where he was insanely good a year ago for Delhi he plays in an entirely different style and gets out without any contribution. Four out of our top seven failed to strike properly today, with Pandey being extremely lucky IMO to find boundaries from those freebies. But, who is criticised the most at the end of the day? Rishabh Pant for some reason.

Maxwell taking a break from cricket to deal with his mental health shocked me as I believed that he was finally being backed properly. But years of mismanagement and stereotyping along with the unrealistic expectations he had of him has clearly taken a toll on Maxi. At least the culture there is a bit more positive for him to take a break. Pant looks like in dire need of something similar, to rediscover his style of play. The bloke is making simple errors with DRS, keeping and simple shots that he wasn't making in the recent past. Is Shastri going to ask him in the way Langer did for Maxi? And even if Pant forces a break himself, will he be given the space and support from the media and 'all crowds, twitter'? Would the selectors and Kohli go back to someone who couldn't handle the pressure and forced himself away from it even if the bloke performs exceedingly well in domestic cricket when the current mantra is all about 'intent'?

@LiveLoveABD was spot on when he said that the destruction of Pant the cricketer had begun by the media and is fully in process.

Finally a decent and a sane post was just scrolling randomly to see if anything is worth reading in cricket discussion which is now more of factual based posts rather than people expressing their views with sensible points.

You're are absolutely spot on with the Pant situation the bloke is getting a lot of flak at the moment across all sections and is pretty much low on confidence which is even affecting his keeping. I can even sense him getting dropped for Samson in the WI series under the Shastri management.

Perhaps more posts like these would make me try posting or even indulge in discussions again.

Please don't stop posting. I very much understand the frustration. The way Rohit spoke about Pant gives me hope. I know there was a lot of frustration about Sharma playing tests and that includes me, but I get the feeling that he is literally our sole hope in terms of leadership. I think he's a very astute captain and he values his players.

Pant? That stumping where he caught the ball in front and the amount of flak he received for it was just pathetic. It really felt like he had missed a stumping that cost a WC. The fact is there is nothing wrong with his keeping. He was just over keen and I rather he make this mistake in a meaningless bilateral than an ICC event. I don't remember one keeper who hasn't dropped a catch or missed a stumping even in a WC. If you want the best of Pant, just leave him alone. What he is capable of, very few cricketers in the world are let alone in the country. But, I am sure we will try to sterilise him for our pathetic lust of numbers and he is NOT MS Dhoni! No one is. That man is a sponge. Everyone can't be.

The only game I followed in this series was the final T20I (did check the scores of the earlier games, though) and was really impressed with the way India won despite bowling with a wet ball in dewy conditions. This was the first time I saw Dube and maybe my judgement is not yet refined, but I really liked what I saw of his bowling. He has the gifted height and from what I saw, he has potential and with proper care, he can blossom well.

Deepak Chahar was just being... Deepak Chahar! I know ppl were criticising that his wickets were mostly caught and all, but that's how he operates even in IPL. You need talent to make batsmen play into the hands of the fielders. When with CSK, Chahar was purely a "Powerplay Bowler" in the 2018 season who was not good at the death. But he went out and added some death bowling skills too and it showed in the 2019 IPL season itself and it keeps getting better. All the credit to the Fleming-Dhoni combine for unearthing this guy. Fleming has even said that Chahar can bat and can be very useful in tight situations.

Iyer is seriously turning out to be a great player for India. Has the shots and the ability to be a big hitter in T20's and also the guy who can graft if the situation requires. The more confidence he derives from his good show and cements himself, the sooner India can get to a point where a captaincy challenger arrives.

Pant getting the flak he is getting, while being unfair, is nothing unexpected. The media trial and the shrill voices on social media are something that come as part and parcel of fame. This is nothing new and all India players, from Dhoni to Yuvi to even Sachin and Dravid have had to face this at different points in their career - 2003 world cup anyone? After the first loss against Australia.

Pant hasnt done anything too wrong behind the stumps, which cannot be corrected. But there are very obvious chinks in his keeping which need to be addressed, if he wishes to remain the first choice keeper for the team atleast in ODIs. And he should be held back from a comeback in Tests, because a sloppy miss in Tests can be exponentially more expensive than in limited overs cricket. Besides that, he really needs to step up his batting and work on his temperament. Too many opportunities just being wasted by him. But I would still back him because he has the potential to be the X factor in the team in limited overs. Mentally speaking, it is really upto the management to support him and make sure he comes out of this unscathed. Right now, he is not even that popular. If and when he reaches the heights of super stardom in Indian cricket, the brickbats will be a lot harsher

Wishing him the very best and hope he can really start contributing a lot more to the team

I respect the members who spoke being a high-maturity level but unfortunately its not the way selectors think
I am still confused and have a doubt despite pant show good performance in domestic,IPL etc why not on International Arena?
I know its difficult to give like board exams than class test but he has given enough chances
What you say guys?

I don't really think so he has been given enough chances. He has just played umm I guess about 8 games in ODIs, 7 in T20Is and about 13 Tests. I don't think these chances are enough to back someone especially a young player like Rishabh Pant. If you want him to perform you do have to bear his inconsistency then only he can nurture. He just needs space. Rohit Sharma was absolutely spot on when he said people need to take the attention off Pant and concentrate on other things around. As fans we need to understand even Cricketers are humans at the end of the day.

And the other point you were talking like board exams, class test and all, see you just need to differentiate between things over here. Someone's career and life is a lot more important than giving all those tests that we give in school, college, etc. Atleast give that guy some time, I am sure he would improve.

I gave an example not comparing
Also the stats you gave about Pant is partly correct.
He have given 10+ ODI and 20+ T20 but his average is pathetic
In tests,IPL he is good.Mainly he should first improve his wicket-keeping the primary role

I have zero doubt in my mind that he's the right bloke to groom for the top job in LOI. I can't say much about tests because I've not seen any. He is also cultured and has immense sportsman spirit demonstrated by him in the IPL last year. His performance also begs the question as to why he was not in the fray for the role in the 2019 WC in spite of very impressive numbers in SA. None of us had him in the fray either and I will admit that, but unlike Shastri and MSK we aren't being paid 10+ crores a year nor have direct access to players or data.

If you really put your mind to it, the failure of this management and set up is just mind numbing. And thank god Rohit made him bat at 4 above Pant and not the other way round.

Correction it was his series against Sri Lanka at home back him 2017 where he did well. In South Africa his issues with the strike rotation in the death overs was exposed and his fielding was below par according to the International standards which was maybe because he felt the pressure of playing Overseas due to the inexperience he possessed. And I think we discussed it before that we can't have people who can't rotate strike at the death considering that Dhoni can't score those runs because of him not being able to find gaps in the field and that is why we resorted towards players like Rayudu, Gill, Iyer, etc. He improved only after Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which was in February this year (a couple of weeks before IPL) and continued his rich vein of form in IPL and also Mumbai T20 Cricket tournament (thanks to MCA for organizing it). To me he got his opportunity only when it was due to him.
