A new patch inbound and new world content: 29th September. They have promised patches and content monthly and DLC. This Japan update for instance is completely free.

Its still not clear to me when this will be coming for Xbox and how it will actually work on console as there is a lot of mouse and keyboard work involved in dialing knobs and setting switches etcetera.
On a side note I can really reccomend the game especially because you can get a trial Windos Xbox pass for a very small amount and have access to 100 top games.

Seeing that container ship prompts the question: I know there are other real-life planes in the game, Are there also real-life ships?

There are ships and boats but they are just computer generated. I believe in the future they want to bring live traffic to the sim in terms of ships and roads.
