Given that most of the Indian public has turned against Ganguly, any idea who might be the next Board President? Since Ganguly & Shah cannot compete, BCCI would be looking towards an entity who can be powerful+respected enough to take on the ICC.

I have a feeling that it might be someone from the 4 Southern states-the mind invariably goes to yet another former Indian captain- Mohd. Azharuddin. If not Azhar, can we expect a left field choice like Ravi Shashtri? (with backing from a few politicians along the way)?

Azhar? NO WAY!! BCCI will never want to risk giving him that kind of power and bring out all the "corruption/fixing" trolls out in the open.

I have certain sympathies towards Ganguly because he's had to navigate his current job through a virus pandemic, that has been unlike anything this generation and the previous generation has ever seen! Of course I hate the involvement of Jay Shah and his BJP politics, but I'm not entirely convinced that Ganguly has done a bad job. Of course he's expected to leave the job at the end of the year and that should happen, but hope he can comeback sometime in the future when things are much better! I really have liked the way he has emphasized importance of bringing back influential ex-cricketers in the fold and giving him important roles (like Dravid for coach; Laxman for NCA head; etc. He even spoke about somehow finding a way to get Sachin back in). He also started emphasizing on the importance of winning silverware (ICC trophies), which in this era of endlessly boring bilaterals, has assumed extra importance. Nobody cares these days about no of ODI/T20 matches won by the team, unless they win an ICC trophy.

With Azhar at the helm, there's always the risk of the uglier side of cricket being circulated yet again. However, the fact that he is the president of a state association means that there's a good chance he may perch himself right a the top. Plus, you gotta remember Azhar has supported the current administration, unlike some.

I wanted to drive the conversation towards a certain Hardik Pandya and his future in the Indian team. He has been injured since the last 2 years and hasn't really turned up, either with the bat/ball for India. He was simply selected on the basis of his past laurels for the T20 World Cup in the UAE. Does he still stand a chance of making the T20 2022 team for this year?

The way I see it, Rohit has gotten together a bunch of enthusiastic persons who are willing to go the distance and have shown that they can win games all by themselves. The likes of Venky Iyer, D Chahar and Shardul are more than capable than Pandya was, in the last 2 years. Even now, Hardik isn't playing the Ranji but resting his hopes on the IPL-where he may not bowl. So, does he warrant selection in the team anymore? Can he OR Should he be allowed to walk in straight away?

Might be the Ganguly connection , Bengali etc. yupp :)

Saha himself is a Bengali boy and you will be shocked with the amount of work Ganguly is doing at the grass root levels in Bengal. In the last 2-3 years alone 4/5 new grounds have come up and the facilities to play are absolutely first class.

Boria Mazumdar is a grade 1 c*nt! I am surprised it's taken this long for this to pop up. Really hope we never see him on TV again.

Journalism in cricket has been dead for a very very long time. It is an @$$ licking competition or cringe interviews. If magically these two are avoided then you will get a PJ competition and unnecessary throwbacks to yesteryears.

Our lust for star power is to blame for this. The beauty of sports commentary/Journalism is having a story teller (common man), a colour commentator (someone who might not be technically sound but has a passion for the game that lures people to listen) and obviously an ex cricketer/pundit.

What has happened over the last 20 years is just the third category. You know that exists when people like Ashish Nehra are becoming cricket pundits. The day Bhogle was reprimanded it was the death of the story teller. Instead of promoting guys like Chopra and finding 3/4 more like him we now have 25-30 ex cricketers who crack pathetic jokes and have made Bhogle like them. Continuously interrupting and cracking horrid jokes.

But we have all the money in the world so it doesn't matter. Sky Cricket had an amazing panel but with Bumble retired they are lacking a colour commentator.

I could be horribly wrong but with Hardik I get a feeling he is content with being part of IPL and not being in the national team no longer worries him, i.e it if happens then fine, but he wouldn't lose sleep over it. He is getting the $$ and fame with IPL itself and maybe he has earned enough to be not bothered about other things.

Absolutely possible... When you have back to back ICC tournaments lined up every year, who would care if you didn't make it to one of them? And these days, bilaterals are a joke. Hardik gets 15 crores to play the IPL for 2 months.

I'm very very impressed with Venky Iyer. I think he has a very sensible head on his shoulders and I have a sneaky feeling we have found the solution to repair the hole in the ship.

Venky Iyer being picked on the basis of 7 IPL games is a disgrace to the India cap and a high level joke.

Changed your opinion after three matches? :D

Venky Iyer, in the limited outings seems like a bits and pieces player OR a slightly better version of Vijay Shankar. I do not think he has been tested adequately on the international circuit yet. What I'd like to see more of-get him to open/bowl his full quota, make him play in a variety if situations. He definitely has the capability, but all comes down to how he is utilized in the run up to Australia 2022.
