See, the batting looked out of sorts. Hooda in place of Virat might have helped here. Always play a man in form. Maybe, they let Kohli take off and return only for the Zimbabwe series. That might help him...or not!

This was always on the cards - a high performance outing followed by a disappointing one. England returning the favour nicely.

Onto the 3rd ODI where we will probably surrender meekly again.

I think, for starters, we need to get a new set of selectors. This Chetan Chauhan& Co have been poor. If they continue any longer, I fear we may have a repeat of the CWC 2007 on our home turf next year.

I know I am famous for reverse jinxing.

But this is coming from the fact that India have a poor record at LORDS in ODIs and team after a defeat like that of 1st ODI tends to comeback harder and this England team is very much capable of that.

Edit - Have a decent record at Lords.

I was right.

:grinning:

Batting was poor from the get go no intent was shown, Hardik ended up throwing his wicket after getting a start didn't quite help either.

Overall England bowled better and deserved to win.

Well for Kohli - not sure how long its gonna take him to back in the form or the pressure of that 71st century, maybe should go back in the domestic circuit score against them get that tempo back.

But for a BIG EGO like him possibility is less.

AFAIK we are playing 5 T20Is & 3 ODIs vs West Indies, Asia Cup T20, 3 T20Is v/s Australia at home and then finally 3 ODIs & 3 T20Is v/s NZ in NZ before the WT20.

Is the Asia Cup happening? Given the Gotabaya situation, I doubt it would go ahead.
There are speculations about it being shifted. The dates are announced but the schedule isn't available as yet.

I'd once again want to highlight Pant's role. Hardik, yes threw away, but he did stabilize the innings to an extent. My grouse still lies with Pant's brainless shot selection and cannot really understand why he's being persisted with. If he's there to play that once in a blue moon blinder,I'd rather take my chances with someone else.

The BCCI must enforce the current crop of players to play at least 2 domestic 4 day games+ 3 Limited over games.

That's the only way you are going to guage their current form. Sadly, this won't happen any time soon.
