An impressive final score for Royal Challengers Bangalore, but an underwhelming finish to the innings all the same. With 7 wickets in hand, Bangalore could only muster up 76 runs in the final 60 deliveries of the innings. Bangalore started well with Yashasvi Jaiswal laying the groundwork for a formidable total, but an underperforming Kane Williamson and the cheap dismissal of Devdutt Padikkal put them at risk for a collapse. But Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Ben Stokes took up the mantle of responsibility with flying colors, adding an unbeaten 127-run stand for the fourth-wicket. The Avengers' bowlers did very well once the ball got old, but not well enough to avoid getting smashed for 15 runs in the final over by Gurkeerat Singh Mann. Gurkeerat Singh Mann played a cornerstone knock of the finest kind, remaining unbeaten by the end of it. Unfortunately for him, he remained unbeaten on 99... one short of a well-deserved hundred. He struck two fours and a six in the final over, and then took a single instead of retaining the strike to complete his hundred. Bangalore finished exactly with 300 because of Gurkeerat Singh Mann going ballistic in the final over, even though the star batter himself missed out on a century (and by just a single run).
To say it was an underwhelming performance from The Avengers' bowlers would be an understatement. Asad Raza's dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal was the only noteworthy beat of the entire innings for The Avengers.

A frustrating finish to an otherwise enthralling competition between two gargantuan sides of their respective tournaments. The Avengers held a stronghold over the game for almost the entirety of the innings with knocks like Praveen Nair's 74, Gayle Storm's 47 and Sergio Marquina's 34-ball 38 being the highlights of their chase. But they simply failed to finish the job with the final two overs of The Avengers' run-chase amounting to 5 runs combined. With Sergio Marquina at the crease alongside Dune Tiger, The Avengers needed 25 runs off the final 12 deliveries of their innings. But Ankit Rajpoot bowled a game-changing penultimate over to get rid of Sergio Marquina, all the while giving away only 2 runs in the over. To score 23 runs off the final over isn't easy, but at the same time, it's also not unheard-of. Especially when Ben Stokes has the ball.
But a 'Remember The Name' moment was not to be as Ben Stokes bowled the final over with great control to only concede 3 runs as The Avengers fell to a greatly disappointing 19-run defeat. Ankit Rajpoot had the most-influential play of the game when he dismissed the set batter, Sergio Marquina while conceding only two runs in the penultimate over of the chase, with the match in perfect balance between the two sides. And not only that, he was also the pick of the bowlers with three scalps to his name, as compared to Bumrah, Lockie and Mustafizur's one (each). In a bowling attack consisting of Jasprit Bumrah, Lockie Ferguson, Mustafizur Rahman and Ben Stokes, it was Ankit Rajpoot who delivered big for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Simply a fairy-tale. Nothing more, nothing less.
