Right, well, here's next time already.. I don't know how many of you guys were around when @Gaurav_7 ran the ODI World Cup draft (for which I was simmer) that helped kick start the activity of draft threads in this forum after a long slumber, but now with another ODI World Cup fast approaching in five months time I thought I might as well start one. While the earlier iteration of this draft involved picking one player from each country, this one will instead involve picking one player from each edition of the 50-over World Cup played thus far - there have been 12 in all from 1975 to 2019, which means each team shall pick 12 players apiece and the rounds shall be in chronological order starting from 1975 and concluding with 2019.

No team can pick more than 2 players from one particular nation, and each must have at least one associate player in the lineup. To avoid confusion, an associate in this draft is a player that comes from a nation without Test status during the time of the World Cup edition you pick him from, which basically means Sri Lanka circa 1975-1979, Zimbabwe up to 1992, Bangladesh 1999, Afghanistan 2015 and Ireland who only played World Cups till 2015 when they weren't yet a Test nation all count in this category.

Also, keep in mind that players will be judged and rated by their performances in the tournament that you select them from, NOT just their overall stats. So please don't make a fool of yourself by selecting Viv Richards in 1975 itself..

Right, so much like LAB X and XII for the tournament ahead I'm going to need you guys to select two venues apiece for your home games from those listed below, whilst mentioning which World Cup year you want your venue to be among those available. Pitch conditions for each venue have been mentioned across different World Cup years, so I'd urge you to select based on your squad strengths. Here's a few things to keep in mind:

- Each venue and World Cup year can only be selected once. For instance, if you pick MCG 1992 the World Cup year for your other venue must be a different one like Wankhede 2011 for instance.
- Pitch conditions as mentioned under venues play a central role in player ratings along with the player's form in the tournament you have selected them from. So if your bowling attack is pace or spin-heavy, make sure to pick accordingly.
- The World Cup year you select for a particular venue can bolster the ratings of a player depending on how good of a tournament he had, particularly if you select a venue from the same World Cup you picked him from. For eg Matthew Hayden (2007) would very much relish being transported back to one of the venues used for the 2007 World Cup such as Kensington Oval/St Kitts.
- The same won't work if you transport a player you picked from an earlier World Cup to a venue in a later World Cup that he might have excelled in. For eg a 22-year old Yuvraj Singh from 2003 won't magically transform into his 29-year old World Cup winning cancer beating 2011 self if you happen to play a match at a 2011 WC venue. There's absolutely no compromise there.
- Also, you can only select from the World Cup years provided for a particular venue. For grounds in England, you have as many as five choices per venues because of the five different World Cups that were played there. For others such as those in South Africa/Kenya/Zimbabwe or the West Indies there is only one.
- The World Cup year you select will affect the style of play from players however. Like for instance, Gordon Greenidge from the 1970s most certainly wont be striking at 60-ish in modern day World Cups, or Joel Garner just conceding at 2 an over with all the heavy bats and short boundaries of 2015. And likewise for those anchors striking at 90-100 effortlessly in recent times should they end up in the '70s-80s all of a sudden.

Please use the form below to select following my example:

Types of pitches available

:bwl::down: Damp/Sticky - Massively in favor of bowlers and an absolute nightmare to bat on, unless you're Victor Trumper.
:left::right: Dusty - Plenty of turn on offer for spinners and a good place to bat for spin-savvy batsmen. Good pace bowlers are still likely to thrive.
:ar::up: Evenly balanced - Provides an evenly balanced contest for all disciplines.
:bat::left: Flat - A batsman-friendly pitch which provides little or no assistance to bowlers. Expect big totals.
:bwl::up: Green - A lot of movement on offer early on, which makes it ideal for bowlers capable of swinging the ball. Batting expected to become easier as the match progresses.
:ar::left: Hard - Ideal conditions for batting. Good deal of bounce on offer for fast bowlers as well. Could go either way
:right::left: Dry/Slow - Ideal for slow and spin bowlers as the name suggests. Sometimes quite difficult to bat on.
:down: Poor - Uneven bounce and a huge amount of turn on offer for spinners. Expect a slow hard grind where most batsmen rarely score at above 2 an over.
