Totally agree. A week before launch, or once the game is actually out - You have Rage 2 buying up all available space/oxygen for the next week or so. I'd suspect that the sales are mostly skewed towards digital now - retail is dropping off quite a bit, so you want people to be able to buy it...

They make a lot of sense to a publisher! I want your money now: not risk not getting it later. :) For a consumer they don't, which is why the publishers usually offer some sort of extra bonus for doing it: are you willing to risk it turning out being bad in exchange for MORE of it?
