Match Set For Final Over Finish

With 137 runs to win from 120 balls, Netherlands started off in good fashion with Eric Szwarczynski and Michael Swart scoring some quick runs. But in the third over Harvir Baidwan got rid of Swart for 13, who had hit Chohan for two consecutive boundaries in the previous over.

Eric Szwarczynski gave the Dutch a good start for the chase

After the pathetic middle-order collapse, the Canadians needed some quick wickets to have any chance of winning this game and qualifying for the group stages of the tournament but it didn?t happened as they wished for. Szwarczynski and new man Atse Buurman added another 45 runs to the score which four boundaries of the bat of Szwarczynski and one four of Buurman's blade. Szwarczynski looked in fine form and it took a brilliant quick yorker from Zaid Hussain to get rid of the opener for 36 runs of just 31 balls.

The Dutch were 70 for 2 as the second keeper Wesley Barresi walked in to join Buurman in the middle. The two keepers played watchfully against the two spinners, Davison and Hussain. The duo added 31 runs in 34 balls before John Davison bowled Buurman with the wrong one. Buurman departed scoring 38 runs from 33 balls which included two boundaries and two huge sixes over long off and covers.

The two spinners and the slow pace of the Canadian skipper Jimmy Hansra had made the run scoring difficult for the Dutch but they still had seven wickets in hand and needed just 25 runs from the last 5 overs. On the other hand, the Reds needed wickets and they got one. It was again Zaid Hussain who did the damage. Wesley Barresi who had already hit a boundary in the same over went to sweep the left arm spinner. Barresi missed the ball completely and was given leg before by the umpire.

Netherlands needed 22 runs from 4 overs. They had Ryan ten Doeshctae and captain Peter Borren in the middle to face the slow pace of Jimmy Hansra and the leg break of Junaid Siddqui. The slow bowlers had done the damage so far for the Canadians and it happened again. First Siddiqui got rid of Peter Borren with a googly hitting the stumps and then an over later Hansra caught and bowled Tom de Grooth, setting up the match for a tense final over finish with the Dutch needing 9 runs of the last 6 balls and Mudassar Bukhari on strike.

R ten Doeshcate 4(7)

Yep, they ought to. Though I wouldn't actually rule out a super over scenario...
In fact, I wouldn't rule anything out - all 3 results are possible! Bring it on!

It's a hard call tbh. Even though Rtd's there he's just faced 7 balls and made 4 runs and he's not on strike so yeah. Rooting for Canada in any cases :p

Canada can pull out a shocker even from this moment but I still think Netherlands are going to win. 9 off 6 with Tendo at the crease, its quite possible.

Siddiqui's Great Start To The Over

Junaid Siddiqui continued the 20th over and infact he had a very great start to the over. Before he started his short run-up, skipper Hansra had a serious chat with Siddiqui along with Davison. At the same time, some message came from the Dutch dressing room through water brought by Luten for ten Doeschate.

First Ball - 0 Runs

No runs of the first ball of the last over

Junaid Siddiqui as expected bowled slow and flat down the leg stump. Bukhari went to sweep but completely misses it and the ball towards short fine leg. Ryan ten Doeschate and Bukhari set off for a single but a good throw comes in from Nitish Kumar and Bukhari turns back and dives in time.

Second Ball - Wicket

Canada celebrate the fall of Bukhari

Oh My God! Bukhari what have you done? Bukhari just had to take a single and give Ryan ten Doeschate the strike but instead he tries to smash Siddiqui's short pitched ball over mid-wicket. Bukhari top edges the ball up in the air and keeper Hamza Tariq doesn't for a second lose sight of it as he runs back towards the boundary and takes it easily. Netherlands lose their 7th wicket as Bukhari departs for duck and he is replaced Pieter Seelaar.

Third Ball - 1 Run

ten Doeschate back on strike for the last 3 balls

Slower ball on length from Siddiqui and the new man in Seelaar slongs from his crease and gets a thick inside edge. The balls runs wide of the short fine leg fielder, down to the sweeper. Seelaar takes the single and happily gives the strike to ten Doeschate.

Ryan ten Doeschate is on strike and he has a golden opportunity to become the hero today. Netherlands need 8 runs from the last 3 balls to qualify for the Twenty20 World Cup and its not going to be easy at all.
