The qualifier is rubbish and hopefully it will be the end of it. But I'd still say it's the World Cup and Scotland and Namibia showed that doesn't mean they can't make it through.
Absolutely. I have no second thoughts on the abilities of Nepal or any other team, they are on the rise and its good to see. Like you said, they going through it second time makes no sense and only in cricket can this happen that a team goes through a second qualifier after being part of a qualifier.

4 groups of 4 and 16 team World Cups. Top 10 qualify based on the ranking and 6 others through the current qualifiers.

This would be what I would go with; whichever teams make the knockouts then also make the following year's tournament.

You could even then have a matching format for the Qualifiers, with the exception that whoever makes the Quarter-Finals then progresses to the main event.

I do think there are easily 20 teams that could compete and we will/should see that soon.

These 12 are already there for 2022

Outside of those you have:

Full members: Zimbabwe, Ireland
12 UAE (who keep beating Ireland)
13 Nepal
14 Scotland
17 Oman
18 Netherlands
19 PNG
20 Singapore (who have beaten Zimbabwe)
28 USA (ODI status)

If you just took the top 20 teams and seeded by their ranking, 3rd place would be a real battle in each group. Group 1 and 2 a real group of death where 2nd place would be up for grabs too. Whatever way you shuffle it around between 1st to 5th seeds you would get an interesting and competitive group.

Ireland and UAE going to the World Cup

Sad not to see Nepal and Oman again, but I'm sure they'll be back. Nepal has some exciting young players and perhaps the most system and supply of domestic players outside of the full members.

*Could be an Uber-jinx here, cause both matches are still going. :spy

Now have to wait until July for Global Qualifier B. On paper, it has a much stronger eight teams. With USA who have ODI status the lowest ranked T20 side.

Yeah, I think it'd be great.

I threw together a quick 20-team qualifier and guessed at how it might shake out:

You could then even have the same scheme for this rung of the qualifying ladder: the top 12 teams in the qualifiers automatically qualify for the next global qualifier, and the eight bottom places filled up from regional qualifiers

Germany beat Philippines in the 7th place match.
Canada beat Bahrain in the 5th place match.
Oman are getting wrecked by Nepal in the 3rd place match.
Ireland are, once again, getting a spanking from UAE in the final.
