Welcome. This story follows the progress of my team - The TT Lions- through a season of Battrick.
So, some information on my team:

Name: TT Lions
Country: West Indies
Region: Trinidad & Tabago
Ground: The Lion Stands
Season: 5th
Division: III.6

Now, my squad:
Andy Finlayson
Age: 26
Nationality: English
Wage: ?730 p/w
RH Middle order batsman, Wicketkeeper
A new-comer, he is a fairly decent bat and a good enough wicketkeeper, who struggles a bit against pace bowlers. He is expected to a be a regular in the batting lineup and to take the gloves when the frontline keeper needs a break.

Arthur Dennis
Age: 26
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?483 p/w
RH Lower-order batsman, Captain.
And original squad member, Arthur Dennis is the team's specialist lower-order batsman and OD skipper. He is extremely destructive with the bat, winning many a tight game with his cool head, experience and powerful hitting, and was a profilic skipper for the team over the past seasons. His poor fitness and fielding has meant that of late he has been on the bench.

Bill Tuckett
Age: 20
Nationality: West indies
Wage: ?7,757 p/w
RH Legspin bowler, Captain
A product of the Lion's Youth Academy, this young spinner has gone from promising talent to team captain and star bowler. A fabulous legspinner, he is a key member of the squad. He took over captaincy after Dennis' bad form saw him dropped, and is tipped to skipper the team for FC games.

Billy Shipp
Age: 22
Nationality: West Indies
Wage: ?685 p/w
RH Lower-middle order batsman, RH Medium pacer.
A cool, calm character, he is a very useful utility player. His first trade is that of a calm, lower order batsman, who can hit the ball a long way and bat well with the tail. Add to that his excellent fielding and useful seamers, and he is a key member of the Lion's squad.

Carlton Drayton (FOR SALE)
Age: 24
Nationality: West Indies
Wage: ?871 p/w
LH Fast-medium bowler
An original member of the squad, he formed a excellent new-ball partnership with Runako Atkinson which was crucial to the team's success in their early seasons. However, the recent developments of Rudi and Folkes as strike bowlers means he has had to sit on the bench of late. His chances this season have been limited, and with a young bowler on the wish list for the Lion's squad, he may soon have to depart.

Dev Newby (FOR SALE)
Age: 27
Nationality: English
Wage: ?584 p/w
RH Middle-order batsman, RH Medium pacer.
A useful batsman who can score quick runs and decent seamer who keeps the runs down, Newby is another utility player for the Lions. He is expected to play a more prominent role for the team when FC games come around as a OD specialist.

Douglas Whing
Age: 25
Nationality: English
Wage: ?797 p/w
LH Opener, LH Fast-medium bowler
Douglas Whing's role in the team is that of a specialist FC batsman, especially up the order. He does do well enough in OD games though, and is expected to open until FC games come around. His seamers are handy as well, and he is the backup seamer for when Folkes or Atkinson are unavailable.

George Giddings
Age: 24
Nationality: English
Wage: ?1,200 p/w
LH Upper middle order batsman
Giddings has just recently join the club, and already has a picitol role in the team. A skilled and experienced hard-hitting batsman, his inclusion is expected to strengthen a frail-looking batting lineup.

Leeroy Spearitt
Age: 21
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?560 p/w
RH Middle-order batsman.
Another product of the Lion's Youth Academy, this dashing strokemaker and electrifying fielder remains on the fringes, but features prominently in the Lion's plans in the future. His high fitness and energy levels and good attitude rub off well onto the rest of the team.

Lennox Rudi
Age: 20
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?7,827 p/w
LH Top-order batsman, LH Medium Pacer
This youngster is a talented allrounder, and a product of the fellow West Indian team Asterix XI's Youth Academy. Originally tipped as the new Ryan Crouch, he has grown out of that shadow, developing his own style of play with his solid top order batting and Pollock-like swingers. He takes the new ball and bats at three, and is a vital clog in the team's plans.

Leroy Williams
Age: 20
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?692 p/w
RH Top-order batsman
Leroy Williams is a classic top order batsman who is capable of batting for stretches of time. He isn't a brilliant fielder, and along with a tendency to lose concentration at the worst times, means he misses out on a spot in the first XI. But he does have the ability to perform under pressure, and his Right handed attacking batting does add some variation to the Lions batting lineup. Expect him to play a big role when FC games come around.

Mohaideen Abdeen
Age: 17
Nationality: Sri Lankan
Wage: ?1,090 p/w
RH Opener, Wicketkeeper
This talented youngster was signed just at the beggining of the season, and is expected to undergo a lot of training. He is a talented wicketkeeper, a destructive batsman who idolises Sanath Jayasuriya, and the clubs most expensive transfer at 1.2 million. Expect him to play a big role in the team's future.

Rich Butcher (FOR SALE)
Age: 23
Nationality: English
Wage: ?512 p/w
LH Middle-order batsman, SLA bowler
A destructive batsman, and an occassional spinner, he has yet to live up to his potential. Unless he performs soon, his position in the squad may be in jeapordy.

Runako Atkinson
Age: 24
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?851 p/w
LH Fast-medium bowler, LH lower-order batsman
And original member of the squad, and for quite a while Carlton Drayton's partner-in crimer, this destructive spearhead has been resigned to the fringes of the team with the arrivals of Andrews, Folkes and Rudi. He is still a fighter, and is likely to hang around the team for a while, or atleast this season.

Ryan Crouch
Age: 22
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?3,655 p/w
LH Middle-order batsman, LH Medium Pacer
What can be said about this legendary allrounder that hasn't already been said? An original member of the squad, he is a fantastically destructive batsman, at times an unplayable swing bowler, and brilliant fielder. A geniuine legend, his name strikes fear in the hearts of opponents. This allrounder is the Sobers of the TT Lions.

Seamus Cutler
Age: 32
Nationality: English
Wage: ?865 p/w
RH Opener
A dour and solid opening batsman, Cutler is expected to bolster the Lion's batting significantly. An expereinced contender, he is at his prime, and is remarkably fit and althletic for a man his age. A newcomer, expect him to play a pivitol role.

Tom Gallagher
Age: 28
Nationality: Australian
Wage: ?751 p/w
LH Top-order batsman
A key batsman of the team, Gally has all the shots in the book, but has the ability to cut them out when the team needs him to. His style of play is very similar to VVS Laxman, and he is beautiful to watch when on form.

Wavell Folkes
Age: 18
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?3,771 p/w
RH Fast-medium bowler
Wavell is a young prodigy, a product of the Lion's youth system. He has made big strides the season and is now the teams strike bowler and is expected to carry the bowling for the team for seasons to come.

Xavier Eli
Age: 17
Nationality: West Indian
Wage: ?1,156 p/w
SLA Bowler
Xavier Eli is a fine young bowler, another product of the TT Lion's Youth Academy. This bald spinner used to keep wicket before deciding to try and bowl a bit, and is now one of the team's hottest prospects along with Wavell Folkes and Mohaideen Abdeen. Eli and Tuckett could soon be a legendary pair.

Since it's Tuesday, it's time for:

Tuesday's Top Player Interview
With Chris Gamble

CG: Welcome. Today's interview is with the Lion's batsman Tom Gallagher, who's 58 was instrumental in the Lion's win over the Assassin's XI this Friday, making for a great start to the New Year. So, Gally, how you feeling?
TG: I'm good, good.
CG: So, tell me, how did you get into cricket?
TG: Well, as a small kid, I saw Australia beat England in the Ashes, and since then, I always wanted to be a cricketer.
CG: Hehe, bet it got a bit repetitive then, didn't it?
TG (Laughing): It certainly did!
CG: So, how does it feel playing for the TT Lions?
TG: Yea, it's great. Good fun. There are lots of characters - Ryan, Rudi, Thomas, Arthur, Billy. it's always fun here, never gets boring. A nice, festive atmospher, yea, and you can learn so much from these guys. And, yea, we have fun.
CG: How did it feel, under pressure, playing against the Assassin's XI. The pressure was on, you had lost early wickets, how did you go about your knock?
TG: Well, yea, I just got myself in, y'know, cut out my risky shots, and took it an over at a time. The runrate was never a problem, and Ryan and later Billy kept coming up to me, telling me to hang in, and, yea, there was good communication. I just worked hard, and am glad that it came off :)
CG: Thanks Tom. Now, just one final question. What is your favourite flavour of Ice-cream?
TG: Oh, strawberry, definately. :)
CG: Thank you very much. Well folks, that was Tom Gallagher, a hard-working, run-scoring, strawberry ice-cream loving kind guy. Hope to see you again next week in Tuesday's Top Player :)

Thanks all for following so far. Doubt it's gonna be a very interesting story...

Anyways, since today is Wednesday, it's time for:

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom
From Shaka Nelson

Hello, welcome to Wednesday's Words of Wisdom, where we give you, the readers, a piece of advice on Battrick every week, delivered by the TT Lion's experienced groudsman, Shaka Nelson. Today's piece of Advice is:

"Let your players play their natural game. That is, set their aggression level around the same as their nature. You can make changes allowing for the pitch, team requirements and the opposition, but try to keep it as close as possible to their playing style. Otherwise, they won't be performing as well as they could, and it turn your team could suffer."

Thank you, and join us again next week in another Wednesday's Words of Wisdom.

I have no idea how Battrick works but this is a good read. Plus, anything with even the slightest hint of Zorax must be good. ;)
