Nice to see our batting click again! We could have defended 16, but still we would take it.

"TŌKYŌ KAIJUS WIN BY A NARROW 7-RUN MARGIN AGAINST RANCHI RAYS"

Tōkyō Kaijus kicked off their Adidas Club Championship with a 7-run victory over Ranchi Rays in their first-round game. The match, played at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi received an overwhelming spectatorial response from the people of Ranchi. In a ground with a seating capacity of 4,000 people, the game achieved 3,200. The team would've been looking to fill more seats in their upcoming games, but their hometeam's loss might effect that motive negatively.

Kaijus, put into bat first by the Rays, piled up a 226-run target in their full quota of 40.0 overs. Yoji Anjo and Ricky Fuji added a 95-run opening wicket stand, and both players scored fifties. But, what followed was quite underwhelming to be perfectly honest. Minoru Kobashi's 46-ball 30 at No.3 was the only positive after the opener's display of such class. Ranchi Rays showed a perfectly well-balanced bowling display, with all except one bowler picking up a wicket at least, and none of them conceding more than 7.00 runs per over.

Ricky Fuji photographed a day before the game, practicing his uppercut with his batting coach in an indoor arrangement.

The total was defended after a nerve-wrecking final over, where Tetsuya Bushi conceded only 4 runs, when 10 were required. Raj Kapoor's 87 at the top nearly snatched the game away from Tōkyō Kaijus. And then, Shahid Kapoor's charge late in the innings which led him to a 18-ball 27-run cameo, nearly won his team the game. But in the end, Tōkyō Kaijus registered the win. Samson Kutsuwada finished with the best figures for Tōkyō Kaijus, he bowled 8.0 overs, conceded 38 runs and picked 2 wickets. Ricky Fuji's was declared the player of the match for his wonderful and well-paced innings.

In return, Serpents Silchar's top order was steady as always. Partnerships between Munro & Amla 59 runs of 77 balls, Kohli & Amla a better run-a-ball 62 runs and an unbeated 116 runs of only a 111 balls by Amla & Butler almost saw them through, if it wasn't for a brilliant last over by Schneider. The Serpents only required 6 runs of the final over and "Magical" Schneider managed to restrict them to only two runs of the final over.

Albert Einstein not out 82 (75) 9x4's 3x6's

In their reply The Savages lost the early wicket of their star player Brother Mario for only 4 runs. M Jinah & Chaplin started with damage control with a 68 runs partnership, but the Kaijus spinning sensation Bushi dismissed them both leaving The Savages a difficult task to chase down 177 runs of 150 balls. Einstein's valliant efford of an unbetean 82 runs of 75 balls was in vein as Tokyo Kaijus's bowlers were just too good on the day. Some experts would say The Savages are focusing too much on their bowling, and the need to get some skills training in the batting department if they wish to stay in contention ...

Raj Kapoor not out 113 (104) 7x4's 6x6's

Ranchi Rays had a massive total to chase, but bad luck for the batsman or good skill by The Assassin's bowlers had them loose both Kumar and Thakur for golden ducks! Raj Kapoor led from the front with an unbeated 113 runs of only 104 balls which included six huge sixes. With 21 runs needed of the last six balls, Kapoor took it upon himself to see his team through ... 4, 4, 4 , 6 , 1 and 2 needed of the final delivery ...
