With the All-Time England draft coming to a close, the next logical draft option would be an all time Australia Test team. I decided to exclude Sir Don Bradman since I am sure the person with the first pick would most likely pick him, although I will change this rule if enough people ask for it.

As with the previous draft, the only condition is that they must have played at least 1 test match for Australia.

I will leave the signups open until the end of the England draft and if enough people ask I will let Bradman be included.

Signups:

@ahmedleo414
@Yash.
@Ashutosh.
@CerealKiller
@blockerdave
@Dale88

Hmm that is a weird condition? People will just pick one of the other all-time Aussie greats, so don’t know what banning Bradman accomplishes :p

The way I figure is, Bradman is considered as the greatest batsman of all time. So the person who gets the first pick would most likely pick Bradman.

This way at least they would pick someone else and as you said there's a ton of other players to pick from, but it's not as easy to predict

It is understandable though, any team with Bradman is automatically going to be too good for comparison's sake. At least with the likes of Smudge or Warney, there are viable alternatives that you could argue were nearly as good at their peaks.

My suggestion would be to offer the person who starts each round the choice of banning a couple of players per round. I would even suggest making it three if the number of signups are less, that way you get to see some of the lesser known Australian greats and Australia is probably the only country which can afford to lose a couple of primary picks. It allows for some interesting tactical manipulations, you could pick a player in a role that isn't as rich and ban the other two viable alternatives. Another alternative would be to allow the person making the final pick in a draft steal a pick from one of the previously picked players or ban them from said side. A couple of suggestions to keep the draft fairly fresh without complicating it too much.

That is a good point. Bradman is incomparable to anyone, i agree.

I get what you are saying, but the point of these drafts is to find the best team. The problem with Bradman is he's too good that any team picks him would have an obvious advantage.

The other option is the person who gets the first pick won't get his next pick until each player has picked at least two other players, so they would pick Bradman, but for their next pick they would have to wait until at least two rounds have passed before they can make another

I think you should have had a similar condition, for opposite reasons, on the England draft regarding Ian Salisbury.

And Tim Munton.

And Simon Brown.

And Usman Afzaal.

And Richard Blakey.

And... (you get the picture)

In, by the way.

I think I'll pass this time. I prefer drafts with some sort of conditions to try to meet - and also have 15,000 words to write in about the next month, so trying to be discerning
