Thank you Ravi for producing such an excellent patch. I will be trying it out in other matches soon. I am glad I could help a bit.

You may not need to tweak anything. With more bowling, we are bound to come across something that we will be able to use to contain the CPU a bit more.

I look forward to your test exclusive patch.

Youre right Murali, it wont need any changes right away. We may be able to figure out a way to get CPU or contain it sometime in future. Bowling out the CPU will be a huge ask with this version of the patch which is fairly ideal for hard level settings.

The patch seems to me excellent and I will give it a try and then review it very soon.

Ravi, i had a look through the posts i missed druing the week and the ODI patch sounds good. Will give it a go on the weekend.

I just want to know first if you have fixed the top order failing problem. It is really annoying for me to be 4 wickets down for only about 50 runs, and the CPU is even worse being 4/20 odd.

Thats all i want to know before i use the patch.

It is fixed big time Tim, it will not only let you to use your top order better but also will make bowling that much harder to get the top 5-6. Give it a go and let me know.

will it be any good if i use it in tests?

if not, do you have a not fully developed test patch i can try out?

I was playing as West Indies against Bangladesh in a tour to the subcontinent. The first match was a test match. I had to bowl first. I found it difficult to get the Bangladesh batsmen out and they maintained a very good pace, about 4 an over. They were 120/1 at the point I stopped playing.

That sounds very good, I didnt plan that one at all. What I want to know though is if it does play attacking shots first up? I know the CPU has this tendancy of not playing too many shots in the first 10 overs or so. I was planning a different patch for test matches for this issue alone. I have one sitting on my pc right now but am still not fully happy with it. Pretty much all shots are being played but the only issue is that it is not leaving any balls to go by. Murali if you think it is reasonable enough for test matches, I may as well alter very few things here and there. Let me know, thanks.

The CPU did play some attacking shots. For short pitched balls, it was going for the hook shot a lot of times. Half the times it did not connect. Otherwise, when it connected, it was going for fours. I think you will probably have to try it out yourself.

When I continue playing tonight, I will keep a close lookout for what shots the CPU was playing and what it did not.

Also, this was the first time I was playing as any other country other than India. So, I was kind of playing a little freely. Tonight I will do some rigorous testing.

Hello I tested this patch on a test match (actually I was testing it on my laptop to see how my new ATI Radeon card works). But anyways the test match was between England and the West Indies. Batting first the Windies (CPU) scored a 276-4 on day 1 (84 overs). Yes the CPU did play some aggressive shots in the start, but if you pitch the ball about four stumps outside the line of the offstump then it would leave it. Later on when I removed the 1st and 3rd slip fielders, it often nudged the ball to third man, for the balls pitched short and outside the line of the offstump. However Chris Gayle i thought played a careless shot to get himself out on 98. You wouldnt expect a batsman in his 90s to play a shot like that. It was a backfoot lob straight to the Mid On fielder.
I wont be playing this test match any longer as I have to resume my story. But I was pretty happy with this patch. So any reviews that I post will be on the basis of the story matches.

Hi Ravi, I also tested you patch and one problem is that I cannot play a day & night match with your patch as I played a 50 over World series match and after saving the game with the help of save tweak 2 I changed the saved game from day to night. But when I reloded the saved game it still loads it as day. Any fix ?

M_Vaughan , I am currently paying a odi triangular series between australia, pakistan and india in autralia, using ravi's latest patch. In my first match I was india playing agains australia. I batted first and scored 265 in 50 overs in hard mode. Then at the end of my innings (India innings) I save the game and quit to desktop, then I opened savetweak and selected the saved game from my documents and then changed the mode to night. Then I restarted the game and after selecting my profile selected the save game and lo again it was day and have not changed to night. If I as wrong why don't you give it a try yourself ?

The only way to have a 2nd innings under the lights if you've quit the game is to change the overs to 49 using SavTweak.

Cheers guys for the feedback, appreciate it very much.

Bumba, what Mike said was right unless you change it to 49 overs you cant play under the lights.

I am not sure if you guys feel the same but CPU was tearing us apart in the first 15 overs even without having to take the aerial route. I have altered it just a little but still CPU plays aggressive cricket in the first 15 overs but won't run away with scores such as 125/2.

The test match patch is looking good for now and CPU now plays shots from the word go if its full or short. The only way to get wickets or contain the CPU in a test match is to bowl length balls. I had problems with CPU not leaving any ball outside the off at all. Now it leaves but not every other delivery, it also defends fairly regularly. The shots even at the start of the innings are varied like a cover drive, cut shot, sq drive or a back foot cover drive et al. It plays pulls, sweep, leg glance pretty much in all directions making it not so easy to bowl to the CPU. The only area where I may want to look at tweaking is the number of wickets CPU loses in any sort of pitch. If it scores heavily but refuse to lose wickets then I think we will get pretty bored to get whacked all the time. So a different patch for a ODI and a test match is certainly the way to go. Those guys using my ODI patch can expect a test match patch sometime today.
