It's finally here! I'll be updating this Topic bit by bit with the Downloads.

If you don't want to install the modified files yourself you can wait for the patch but that could still be a matter of weeks away at the time of writing this.

Remember to always backup any of your own files you have edited before inserting mine. My recommendation is that you simply copy your entire "Documents\My Games\Codemasters" folder as well as the game installation folder (mine is "E:\Games\Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009" for example) and paste in place or to your usual backup location and then start with a clean installation of the game followed by the Open Beta 1 and then the Open Beta 2 Patches before you begin installing this Mod.

If you are not sure what this Topic is about and/or you would like more information then please head to: Ashes Cricket 2019 Mod - A 10-Year Anniversary Project - Official Topic

    Squads:

The following file must replace your USER.DAT file located (on an installation of Windows to the C:\ Drive) here: "C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\My Games\Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\USER.DAT" on newer versions of Windows and here: "My Documents\My Games\Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\USER.DAT" on older versions.

This USER.DAT file has been specifically prepared for playing the Series as England. In order to ensure the AI picks the correct Australian Bowlers some of the Australian Players have had their bowling abilities reduced to zero and modified from swing/seam to spin to prevent the AI from selecting them because they did not bowl in the series/do not form part of the Australian attack. Unfortunately the result of ensuring the correct bowling order for the first test is that their batting lineup is now slightly out of order because the batting position also affects the order of the bowling selection by the AI - but only the tail, so it's a price worth paying to ensure the bowling order is correct.

Once I have finished sharing all of the Downloads I will endeavour to make a version of this file specifically for those who wish to play the Series through with Australia to ensure the AI picks the correct English bowlers.

    Download -> USER.DAT

Installing the files that follow below this message requires you to download and run Big Editor, get it here. Extract it to your game installation directory and run it from there as instructed here. If the Big Editor asks which file you want to open when you run it then select the following file (Your Installation Drive\Path): "\Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\final\async.big.w32"

    Data:

Download -> global.db |This file is essential, it is responsible for swapping some faces/hairstyles, I can't remember now but I may have made other tweaks to it too. Using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/startup/startup.wad/startup/database" select the global.db file, click 'replace' then navigate to your Download Location and select this updated file.

You can skip the 4 other Data file replacements below and proceed to the Faces section because "english.csv" and the 3 files contained inside Data.zip: "cricket_hud.xml", "metavalues.csv" & "temporary.xml" will be updated in one go when you replace the "gdata.wad" file as explained in the Graphics section below.

Download -> english.csv | This file is essential, it is responsible for updating textual references of 2009 to 2019. Using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/gdata/gdata.wad/global/locale/frontend" select the english.csv file, click 'replace' then navigate to your Download Location and select this updated file.
(Use the Download Button is on the top-right of the screen after you click the link due to it being a .csv file)

Download -> Data.zip | If you wish to remove the Radar like I did in the videos I recorded to increase the beauty/difficulty of the game then these files are essential. Otherwise, these files are recommended, they are responsible for other minor changes to the game too. Extract the "Data" directory inside Data.zip to a location of your choice such as your Desktop. Inside the directory you will find two more directories: "Radar - ON" and "Radar - OFF". Decide whether you want the Radar on or off and open the appropriate directory, inside you will see three files. Now, using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/gdata/gdata.wad/global/hud" select the file called cricket_hud.xml, click 'replace' then navigate to your choice of either the "Radar - ON" or "Radar - OFF" directory you extracted from the .zip archive and select the cricket_hud.xml file you see there. Next, using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/gdata/gdata.wad/global/metagame/dynamic" select the temporary.xml file and click 'replace' then same as last time, navigate to your choice of either the "Radar - ON" or "Radar - OFF" directory you extracted from the .zip archive and select the temporary.xml file. Finally, using the Big Editor again, navigate to: "AC09/gdata/gdata.wad/global/frontend" and select the metavalues.csv file then click 'replace', navigate to your chosen directory that you extracted and select the metavalues.csv file to complete the file replacement.
(Use the Download Button is on the top-right of the screen after you click the link due to it being a .zip file)

    Faces:

Download -> Faces.zip | This .zip archive contains all of the player faces that make up the two Ashes 2019 squads. Extract the "Faces" directory inside faces.zip to a location of your choice such as your Desktop. Using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/characters/heads/models" you'll notice 7 directories, 5 of which share the same names as 5 directories inside the "Faces" directory you extracted from the faces.zip archive. Open the 'Australia' directory and the corresponding 'Australia' directory in the Big Editor: "AC09/characters/heads/models/australia" inside the directory you extracted you will see an individual directory for each player, the directory names show the name of the model you need to replace inside the Big Editor followed by the real squad player that this face is for. Example: "ben_hilfenhaus - Mitchell Starc". So to add Starc's face open "AC09/characters/heads/models/australia/ben_hilfenhaus" select ben_hilfenhaus.model and replace it with the ben_hilfenhaus.model file from the "australia/ben_hilfenhaus - Mitchell Starc" directory you extracted from faces.zip. Repeat for all of the other faces you find in those 5 directories apart from Adil Rashid, Alastair Cook, James Anderson Mitchell Marsh, Phil Hughes & Shaun Marsh - these do not need updating as they are still the original files, I just included them for the sake of having a complete set of faces for both squads. Inside each player directory you'll also find a directory called "model" inside here is a backup of the other files contained inside the .model file and a copy of the image files which make the faces in case anyone wants to have a go at improving any themselves, please share your work back here if you do!
(Use the Download Button on the top-right of the screen after you click the link due to it being a .zip file)

The following faces were made by Akhil 12: James Faulkner & Josh Hazlewood (Thank-you @Akhil 12 - feel free to use any of my files in your work if you need)

The following faces were made by Nikhil V: Aaron Finch, Ben Foakes - originally Eoin Morgan, David Warner, Mitchell Johnson, Pat Cummins, Steve Smith & Stuart Broad. Unfortunately as you are banned and your download topic is locked I have no way to try and contact you to ask for your permission to include these files but I do so to make the lives of anyone downloading this Mod easier and with gratitude that you made some great faces that thankfully reduced the number I've had to make myself! If you have any issue with me including your work please contact me via: [email protected]

The following faces were made by me:

    Graphics:

I am aware that Faces & Kits are graphics too! However, it made sense to categorise those separately so you can consider this 'all the other graphics'. Special thanks to @rohitmaharana58 for creating the majority of the Sky Sports items (I only made the updated Sky Sports Ashes TV Logo, all the other Sky Sports graphics were made by rohit).

Thankfully, the majority of these file replacements can be performed in one go by updating one file! This file also includes 4 of the 5 file replacements from the "Data" section above: english.csv and the 3 files contained in Data.zip (cricket_hud.xml, metavalues.csv & temporary.xml) so you will not need to replace those 4 files manually.

Download -> Graphics.zip | This .zip archive contains the following:
    - Ashes 2009 -> 2019 Logo replacements (6x)
    - Eye Colour Replacement (Replaces the dark blue with a more noticeably/obviously blue colour (light blue) and prevents the green eyes such as Labuschagne's from looking demonic by replacing the light green with dark green).
    - HAWKEYE Logo (Original made by: @rohitmaharana58 - I modified it keeping the Hawk Eye Logo and replacing the 'Sky Sports' Text underneath with 'HAWKEYE').
    - Sky Sports Ashes TV Logo Watermark (Displayed during Replays)
    - Sky Sports Country Logos (Made by: @rohitmaharana58)
    - Sky Sports HUD Overlay (Made by: @rohitmaharana58)
    - Sky Sports Radar (In case you do want to play with the Radar enabled, this one will match the rest of the Sky Sports Overlay and was made by: @rohitmaharana58)
    - Specsavers Advertising Boards + Hardys, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Lycamobile, NatWest, Pedigree, Skyscanner and Stowford Press (Sorry if some of these advertisement boards didn't feature in the series - also I am not bothering to do individual boards for each stadium but I think they'll do, if someone wants to do the authentic boards for each stadium then that would be amazing! A few of these boards were made by another user or other users so I need to try and track down who to give credit)
    - Specsavers Boundary Rope
    - Specsavers Pitch Ad's
    - Specsavers Stumps
    - Specsavers Video Screens (Inside the Stadiums)
    - Stadia Graphics Updates (These are other graphical updates to the Stadiums which were made by another user or other users so I need to try and track down who to give credit)
(Use the Download Button on the top-right of the screen after you click the link due to it being a .zip file)

To install the 4 data files mentioned above as well as the: Ashes 2019 Logos, Eye Colour Replacements, HAWKEYE Logo, Sky Sports; Ashes TV Logo, Country Logos, HUD Overlay, Radar and the Specsavers Stumps extract the "Graphics" folder inside Graphics.zip to a location of your choice such as your Desktop. Using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/gdata" select "gdata.wad" and press replace, now navigate to the "Graphics" directory you extracted from Graphics.zip and open the "gdata" directory and you'll see two more directories: "Radar - ON" & "Radar - OFF", pick which one you want and open it, then select the "gdata.wad" file you see there to complete the replacement.

To install the Specsavers: Advertising Boards, Boundary Rope, Video Screens & other Stadia Graphics Updates, using the Big Editor navigate to: "AC09/stadiums/sharedtextures/signage/licensed" select "signage.texpack" and press replace then navigate to the "Graphics" directory you extracted from Graphics.zip and open the "stadiums" directory, inside you'll see 6 more directories, open "Shared" and select "signage.texpack" to complete the replacement. Now using the Big Editor navigate to: "AC09/stadiums/birmingham/models" select "birmingham.model" and press replace then navigate to the "Graphics" directory you extracted from Graphics.zip and open the "stadiums\Birmingham" directory, select the "birmingham.model" file to complete the replacement. Repeat this process to replace "birmingham_misc0.model" and "birmingham_shared_textures.texpack" with the correspondingly named files inside the "Graphics\stadiums\Birmingham" directory you extracted from Graphics.zip. Now repeat this procedure for the other 4 Stadiums too: Cardiff, Leeds, North London & South London - you'll find each of the 3 files you need to select to replace inside the relevant directories for each Stadium. Make sure that you select the correct .model files for each individual Stadium - Be careful not to replace "birmingham_misc0.model" with "birmingham.model" for example and to make sure you replace the Cardiff .model files with the Cardiff .model files provided, not with Birmingham .model files or those for a different stadium (same goes for all Stadiums, don't overwrite with any files provided for a different Stadium).

To install the Specsavers Pitch Ad's using the Big Editor navigate to: "AC09/cricketgrounds". Inside there are 5 directories where you will need to replace files: "type_07", "type_17", "type_19", "type_30" and "type_31". Let's start with "type_07" for the example, open it and inside you will see three more directories, open "light_wear" and then open "layer02.model" now select "groundsign_01.dds" and press replace, now navigate to the "Graphics" directory you extracted from Graphics.zip and open the "cricketgrounds" directory, select "groundsign_01.png" to complete the replacement. Repeat this process for the "mid_wear" and "heavy_wear" directories too, replacing the "groundsign_01.dds" files inside the "layer02.model" files. Now repeat this procedure for the "type_17", "type_19", "type_30" and "type_31" cricketgrounds.

    Kits:

Download -> Kits.zip | This .zip archive contains the following:
    - Updated Test Kit for England (Original work by: sheikh umar, I only updated the kit slightly for the 2019 Series - Thank-you @sheikh umar - feel free to use any of my files in your work if you need)
    - Updated Test Kit for Australia (Original work by: Kuldip pargi, again I only updated the kit slightly - Thank-you @Kuldip pargi - feel free to use any of my files in your work if you need)
    - ICC/Emirates Umpire's Kit as seen in the real Ashes 2019 Series
    - Plain White Armguards & Batting Pads
    - Wicket Keeping Gloves for Bairstow & Optional Keeping Gloves for Paine
(Use the Download Button on the top-right of the screen after you click the link due to it being a .zip file)

To install the England/Australia Kits extract the "kits" folder inside Kits.zip to a location of your choice such as your Desktop. Using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/characters/kits/england/testmatch/headwear/generic/cap" select "testmatch.texpack" and press replace, now navigate to the corresponding directory inside the "kits" directory you extracted from the Kits.zip archive and select the "testmatch.texpack" repeat this process (using the different corresponding individual texpack files) for:
    - "AC09/characters/kits/england/testmatch/headwear/generic/helmet" and replace "helmet.texpack"
    - "AC09/characters/kits/england/testmatch/headwear/generic/widebrim" and replace "widebrim.texpack"
    - "AC09/characters/kits/england/testmatch/legs/generic/legs" and replace "legs.texpack"
    - "AC09/characters/kits/england/testmatch/shirts/generic/longsleeve" and replace "shirt_sleeves_long.texpack".
Once you have replaced those 5 files navigate to: "AC09/characters/kits/australia/testmatch/headwear/generic/cap" and start the process again replacing "testmatch.texpack" from the corresponding 'Australian' directory inside the "kits" directory you extracted and then replace the 4 other .texpack files as you did for England for Australia too.

To install the Umpire's Kit, using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/characters/kits/umpires/testmatch/headwear/generic/widebrim" select "widebrim.texpack" and press replace, now navigate to the corresponding directory inside the "kits" directory you extracted from the Kits.zip archive: "kits\umpires\testmatch\headwear\generic\widebrim" and select "widebrim.texpack". Now navigate to: "AC09/characters/kits/umpires/testmatch/shirts/generic/longsleeve" and replace: "shirt_sleeves_long.texpack" with the corresponding file from the "kits" directory you extracted: "kits\umpires\testmatch\shirts\generic\longsleeve\shirt_sleeves_long.texpack".

To install the Plain White Armguards & Batting Pads, using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/characters/kits/shared/armguards/transmission_armguards/armguards" select "transmission_armguards.texpack" and press replace, now navigate to the corresponding directory inside the "kits" directory you extracted from the Kits.zip archive: "kits\shared\armguards\transmission_armguards\armguards" and select "transmission_armguards.texpack".
Now repeat for: "AC09/characters/kits/shared/armguards/codemaster_armguards/armguards" and replace: "codemaster_armguards.texpack" with the corresponding file from the "kits" directory you extracted: "kits\shared\armguards\codemaster_armguards\armguards\codemaster_armguards.texpack". Now navigate to "AC09/characters/kits/shared/pads/codemasters_battingpads/pads/diffuse" and select the file: "codemasters_battingpads.texpack" then press replace, now navigate to the corresponding directory inside the "kits" directory you extracted from the Kits.zip archive: "kits\shared\pads\codemasters_battingpads\pads\diffuse" and select "codemasters_battingpads.texpack".
(Since I never found time to research what batting pads players have I set all of the players in the roster to these plain white pads as I think that's more aesthetically pleasing than all the players having random/wrong pads - I recommend you update these pads as instructed above to remove the nasty black straps on the back with "codemasters" text as well as updating the armguards to remove the company logos).

Here are the Wicket Keeping Gloves I made for Bairstow:
When I made these Bairstow was using them at the time but from what I could make out whilst watching the Series this Summer it looked like he was using a similar but slightly different pair. I'm going to go with these though unless someone wants to make the exact pair he was using in which case I will swap them over. In order to install, using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/characters/kits/shared/keeper/gloves/codemasters_keepergloves/gloves" select "codemasters_keepergloves.texpack" and press replace, now navigate to the corresponding directory inside the "kits" directory you extracted from the Kits.zip archive: "kits\shared\keeper\gloves\codemasters_keepergloves\gloves" and select "codemasters_keepergloves.texpack".

Here are the Wicket Keeping Gloves I made for Paine:
Again, when I made these I saw him wearing them in a Test Match and I assumed he would wear them for the 2019 Ashes Series too. In the end he appeared to be using a set which is very similar to the original: "kookaburra_bradhaddin" pair included with the game by default which look like this:
Therefore, I will not be including the Wicket Keeping Gloves I made for Paine in the patch. However, if you like my white & green Kookaburra gloves more than the green & yellow you can install them manually. In order to do so: using the Big Editor you need to navigate to: "AC09/characters/kits/shared/keeper/gloves/kookaburra_bradhaddin" select "kookaburra_bradhaddin.texpack" and press replace, now navigate to the corresponding directory inside the "kits" directory you extracted from the Kits.zip archive: "kits\shared\keeper\gloves\kookaburra_bradhaddin\gloves" and select "kookaburra_bradhaddin.texpack".

    Hardcore Batting:

You should complete all of the other Installation Steps above before proceeding to ensure you have a completed async.big.w32 file for bowling/fielding!

Special thanks to @AngryPixel for his work developing the Hardcore modifications originally!

Download -> Hardcore.zip | Before installing the Hardcore files we're going to do a couple of things so navigate to your installation directory and then the "final" directory: "Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\final" inside you will see the async.big.w32 file. Now extract the "Hardcore" directory inside the Hardcore.zip archive you downloaded to a location of your choice such as your Desktop. Inside the "Hardcore" directory you just extracted you'll see a file called: "batting-bowling-switcher" with a batch file extension so: "batting-bowling-switcher.bat" is the full filename. This is a Batch File I made that is going to save you time and make your life much easier to swap between the Batting with Hardcore mode and Bowling with the reticle. Copy this file to your: "Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\final" directory so it sits alongside the async.big.w32 file. Now you need to double-click/run/execute this "batting-bowling-switcher.bat", after a few seconds you should see the notification message: "File Copy Complete", press "OK" to clear the message/close the Alert Window. You should create a Desktop Shortcut to this "batting-bowling-switcher" file now as you will be using it regularly in the future. DO NOT run this file again or try to test the Desktop Shortcut until after you have completed the following steps though! The .bat file you just executed created a copy of your async.big.w32 file called: "BATTING.async.big.w32", you should see it inside the directory like so:
Now using the Big Editor, you need to open: "BATTING.async.big.w32" - Remember that if you have already been using the Big Editor it will open the last file you were modifying which will most likely be "async.big.w32". Be sure to use the Top Menu of the Big Editor and click "File" -> "Open Archive" and open the "BATTING.async.big.w32" file before proceeding, do not edit the "async.big.w32" file as this is the file for bowling and we don't want to install the Hardcore Patch on that one! Once you have opened the correct: "BATTING.async.big.w32" file with the Big Editor it's a very quick job, using the Big Editor navigate to: "AC09/startup/startup.wad/startup/database" select the "global.db" file, click 'replace' then navigate to the location where you extracted the "Hardcore" directory from inside Hardcore.zip - inside the "Hardcore" directory select the "global.db" file to complete the replacement. Now finally, using the Big Editor navigate to: "AC09/gdata/" and select the "gdata.wad" file then click 'replace', navigate to the location where you extracted the "Hardcore" directory from inside Hardcore.zip. Inside the directory you will find two more directories: "Radar - ON" and "Radar - OFF". Decide whether you want the Radar on or off and open the appropriate directory then select the "gdata.wad" file inside to complete the replacement.

This concludes the installation of the Hardcore Batting Patch. Now each time you want to swap between Batting & Bowling, simply save your game right at the start of the new innings and close the game entirely, then run the "batting-bowling-switcher.bat" file again and it will automatically adjust the "async.big.w32" fies for you. Then it will give you a notification on the screen to let you know whether Batting or Bowling Mode is enabled:
    or
    [IMG]
(Don't worry about the lines of code you see in the Window by the Alert Message - it shows all of the lines of code in the Batch file, even if those code lines are not being executed).

Please stay tuned and check back as I will be editing gradually and adding more downloads.

It's better like this though, I mean, I never kept good track of the many files I have modified, I wish I had documented them as I went along, something to remember for the future I guess. It helps if you actually know you are planning on releasing something from the start though which I never did. At least this way I know exactly what I need to include in any patches by going through all of the individual files first, I don't want to end up bundling together other files in a patch that are random things I downloaded in the past.

Kits are up, installation instructions on the way - I'm struggling to find who the original creator of this Australia Test Kit was:

As far as I remember I only added the "2019 Ashes Tour of England" text. I've spent 2 hours searching the Forum :( Does anybody know?

    --- EDIT ---
    Nevermind, it was: rohitmaharana58 !

Could be but it looks like his Australia Test kit is a little different, it has black lines down the side not yellow I think. Not sure if Kuldip even logs in here anymore so we may not get an answer from him. Well hopefully we can figure it out so they can receive the credit for doing most of it.

I just figured out who it was: @rohitmaharana58 ! Original Post: https://www.planetcricket.org/forum...orts-overlay-logos.89264/page-35#post-2966031

I think it's the closest Australian Test Kit I've seen / been able to find on here:

Also, we can't do anything about the yellow on the collar because it's on the inside of the collar, as far as I know it's only possible to show the outside of the collar. It looks like the only real difference is that the yellow line should run underneath the armpits and not down to the side? For me it's good enough, I've reached the point where I've just had enough of all this stuff and want to get it completed now :( If somebody wants to make perfect kits to be included in this mod and the patch then it will need to be very soon because I'll be making the patcher in the next week or two probably.
