At this point, I'm inclined to believe that Zampa's frequent hair-dos are to distract us from the fact that he is still the first choice odi spinner.

I hope Langer does not walk back on his opinion of Stoinis as a better top order player than a middle order one and give him a chance yet again at six or seven as it is well known that Stoinis is clearly not good enough in the middle order. He reminds of a poor man's version of Dhoni with his struggle to rotate strike and a limited range of powerful shots to keep up the scoring rate. He did pick up four wickets though which is unusual.

Pleased to see Maxi among the runs, Australia clearly have no replacement for him even if he is not in form and so they should be doing their best to keep him fit and firing. On paper he has the tools to succeed at five but somehow played a very different role in the World Cup and was ultimately not good enough. His presence could allow for the slower Carey to flourish in an old school finisher role.

And Ed Smith has found a way to keep David Willey out. He was like "Willey has done everything but he still is not getting chance because we want to give others the opportunity."

Pretty much sums things up for Willey's future.

Same old same old Aussie selections. Maxwell seems undroppable despite his continued inconsistency in white ball formats. He was terrible in the last WC.. Stoinis not far behind. Both very hit & miss.
Glad CA is giving the exciting Josh Philippe his first international series. This guy can reach the stratosphere if he puts his mind to it.. he has so much natural talent. The other debutant tourist Riley Meredith will be the quickest on both sides so needs to ruffle the feathers of the England top order.

Oh what a daggy ODI pair of pyjamas. Much prefer this strip from a few decades ago.

Maxi's probably the first name that gets shipped away once a decent middle order batsman, let alone an all-rounder turns up. I don't think they want him in the ODI side but have no choice due to him being the only explosive middle-order batsman. Stoinis is a bit interesting as Langer did previously mention that they saw him as a top order option rather than a middle order player and he did open in the warmup games. But then this is the same management that went with Shaun Marsh out of all people at five in a World Cup match so cannot expect them to stick by their own earlier decisions.

Warney's been hyping up Meredith in every iteration of the Big Bash and even the odd international tour so it should be interesting to see how he performs for Australia. I personally think he is a bit too raw and prone to spraying it about but the kid does have some good pace, no doubt about it.
