Considering the development Victoria and other top level programs have put into him it would have been pretty silly to just drop him and not keep looking for improvement. That said, I reckon Wade will own him and I hope he is in the mix early in the season.

Well mate, I don't listen to rumours on message boards personally, but I can tell you right now that Adam Crostwhaite had a great season last year, batting was much improved and his glovework is and always has been excellent. Not sure who would have done a better job than that.

The old man said that his glovework is sloppy. Average at best. Statistically, he wasnt that good with the bad. Averages only 20 in ODD.

It should be about what is gonna win us the Pura and ING Cup Trophies.

Nathan Pilon isn't going to win Victoria the Pura and ING trophies.

Investing in long term players (you are writing off a player who is 22), on the other hand, does.

But not playing the best players won't win it either.

We're not talking about the best players. Playing either of those keepers basically omits a much better specialist batsman or bowler.

Statistics sell him short, if you watched him you'd notice that he is a lot more confident and he picked up some good innings in both forms too. As for his keeping, I'm not sure if the old man in question has ever seen him keep, because the guy is a brilliant keeper. I remember seeing a run out from him, where he took the ball in mid-air and threw it down at the stumps from directly above. I have not seen him make many mistakes at all.

As I've mentioned a few times before, the old man has umpired him on numerous occasions, therefore he has seen him keep for alot longer and closer than a large large majority of other people.

Well he has been highly rated by a lot of people who have seen him keep, including myself, and others who have seen him for longer periods. I can assure you that as far as glovework goes, he is one of the best in the country.

Never heard of the bloke really, a shock. But really, who else is there? Jason Gillespie? No way Cosgrove would have got it. Maybe their keeper?

Me either. I dont think Matty Elliot is a leader anyways. They will struggle to find someone to fill Boof's shoes though. Thats for sure.

Maybe Gillespie? Could give him extra reasons for him to stay on for another season?

I would say they were looking more towards the future captain but Adcock isn't young. They say hes a good captain hence him getting the job. Never really saw Dizzy as a captain.

Adcock isn't young, but he isn't old; he might captain for five years or more. He won't be good enough to make the national team, but on last year's form he was good enough to justify his selection for the state. This is a key reason for overlooking Graham Manou, who is slightly younger and has more captaincy and VC experience. Manou's batting isn't able to justify Pura Cup selection and he may yet be on notice.

Another element is reining in the riffraff. Cosgrove is known to have disciplinary problems and it's likely Lehmann realises he's not the kind of person who brings discipline to a team. Considering much of the team is in their early to mid twenties, not only will discipline and experience be problems for a captain to work on, but those players effectively rule themselves out of captaincy. It's not hard to see what age bracket the SACA felt was a happy medium.

They say Adcock is a lawyer and a high acheiver, well, if there's one thing I know about my law friends it's that they're very good at getting their way.
