Wonder why Shankar needed to go for a second big hit when he already got a SIX off the previous ball and he has a well settled Rohit Sharma batting at the other end. This was an opportunity to close the case for his spot in the WC squad. He could still be there in that squad, but he has left the confusion to exist in the selectors minds when he could've sealed it.

I feel this is a great series for India to have just before the WC, and I sorta wish that the IPL did not exist at all between now and the WC (I'll enjoy the IPL as a fan, but I wish India were better rested for the WC). Everyone has been well tested during this series (top order, middle order, bowlers at the start, bowlers at the death, etc.).

And he is gone. Why is Jadeja even an ALLROUNDER? His batting as I said previously is piss poor and Kohli talked about strengthening the lower order at toss.

P.S - No problem in having Jadeja in the squad but his lower batting contribution in LOI needs to be valuable otherwise playing him just as bowler is pointless IMO.

Coing onto the match the pitch is a slow pace one and has been deteriorating with the time so was a very crucial toss for Australia to win and they batted brilliantly to get 270 odd. And from our perspective we still haven't found the right middle order since last 2 years no. of options tried and tested but none got a consistent long run irrespective of the performances be it Iyer, Pandey, Rayudu ,DK , Rahul ,Pant and even Shankar ( perhaps has been in the reckoning since the NZ tour). Will be interesting to see who makes it in WC squad with international season being over for India and the IPL coming up.

Seems like a good opportunity for Bhuvi to prove why he should play instead of Shami if India chooses to go in with two seamers and Pandya. His batting can potentially be useful if there is a genuine batsman striking it nicely at the other end.

Yeah and who else and oh a dumbass selector as well who is equally if not worser than shastri in terms of boasting in media about his bizzare selections.

Also its just my feeling that with current crop of players we just can't win the world cup, the middle order and lower order is brittle and I just can't see how they will turnaround in the WC.

This team has far more depth and quality than the one in 2011. The difference is the leadership. Our fast bowling is absolutely apex and we have the best spinner in the world. Pandya is a top all rounder and in Shankar and Jadhav you have more than handy 6th and 7th bowlers. Jadeja should only be used if we need to play another spinner and/or another all rounder.

To be honest, every player bar the bowlers and the settled lot must be so insecure and suffering from stage fright. KL Rahul will be flying to England in all probability as reserve opener and having played one game this series having come in to bat at the fag end of the innings. It just shows the mayhem that has gone on with selection. Pant shouldn't even have played here. And what should I even say about DK? What wrong has he done to not even be in the squad?

Too many cooks spoil the broth and this broth is now full of piss.

My absolute honest selection now would be-

Dhawan, Rohit, Kohli, Dhoni, Jadhav, DK, Pandya, Bhuvi, Kuldeep, Shami and Bumrah.

My reserves would be- Rahul, Shankar, Chahal and Jadeja.

Inconsistency is the reason. He doesn't deliver when the team needs it. His fielding and athleticism looks poor for an Indian Cricketer. It's not good especially when Indian Cricket have been setting the fitness standards for the World Cricket to follow
