The tournament will be held in February 2012 at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, and will last 21 days. A stipulated number of international and Bangladesh players will be put on auction ahead of the tournament.

Better name it "IPL Warm Up", because the term IPL will grab more interest than a new Premier League.

can't believe Bangladesh is doing this. We need to concentrate on ODIs and Tests and get good at them before T20s.

But why ? They wont be invited to take part in the CLT20 also. And I agree with a point mentioned above-get the ODI and Test house in order first.

The DPL (Dhaka Premier Leage), the national one day tournament, is set to start and here are the teams so far:

Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego, Rajat Bhatia from KKR and Mithun Manhas from Delhi, M. Riyad, Elias Sunny have been signed up by Abahani.
Abdur Razzak and Rubel Hossain are Brothers' national pool players who have moved from Surjo Tarun and Prime Dholeswar respectively but it is their batting unit that looks most promising. Nazimuddin, Mahbubul Karim Mithu, Aftab Ahmed, Dhiman Ghosh, Nafis Iqbal and Tushar Imran make up their batting order while also including left-arm seamer Ashraful Haque, off-spinner Raihan Uddin Arafat and left-arm spinner Taposh Ghosh; Umar Akmal and Sohail Tanvir are their foreign players.
Apart from Shakib and Tamim, Shoaib Malik will also put pen to paper for Victoria while Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, Al-Amin Hossain, Saikat Ali and a few others will follow suit.
Meanwhile, Biman came in late and had eight players put pen to paper including left-handed batsman Junaed Siddiqui, all-rounder Rezaul Karim, Ehsanul Haque, the veteran Javed Omar, Asif Hasan and off-spinner Fariduddin Masud. Pakistan batsmen Imran Farhat, Younis Khan, and Fawad Alam have been roped in too
National discard Rokibul Hasan has signed up for CCS from Kalabagan Krira Chakra apart from Pakistani veteran Rashed Hanif, Imrul Mustakim and Robiul Islam.

So a lot of overseas players there, mostly from Pakistan. Hopefully the BPL will be bigger than the DPL.

So obviously Victoria are favourites, followed by Abahani and Brothers. But the news showed PCB won't allow some Pakistani players to play because of Int duty.

Two signing ceremonies concerning the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 competition was held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday.

First, Gazi Ashraf Hossain, the BPL governing council chairman, and Game On Sports director Anjan Ganguly signed the papers on behalf of the two parties. The deal is for six years worth 44.33 million dollars.

Then, Virgo Media Channel 9, the official broadcast rights of the BPL, signed the agreement through its managing director Enayetur Rahman.

The six-team tournament will begin on February 10 and will run till February 29 during which 25 matches will be played.

The franchises' auction will be held on January 5 in Dhaka, while 75 foreign players will be up in the players' auction.

Warne, Murali, Gilchrist, Hayden, Pollard, Bravo and many others have agreed to play in the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20! S. Alam group and Ispahani group has shown interest to buy the franchisee of Chittagong team while Beximco is eager to buy the franchisee of Dhaka.
