No saying Pant is the answer, but you'll never move on from Dhoni if no one is given a chance to replace him. I'd say the selectors have done the right thing moving on, and Pant has to be given time now they've made that choice.

Dhoni should be kept and also Pant should be there. He should also be able to learn from him
Because if we take Pant directly it will cost in big tournaments

Dhoni should probably be around the squad, I agree. But if Pant is the route they're going, the best way to learn is to play, especially in series that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. (Like Bangladesh)

Yes because if we keep Dhoni out for long period we then cant blame him not being on the form immediately in big tournaments

Aye, its got to be either the case that you move on or you don't, there is no sense in playing Pant now, then running back to an out of for Dhoni the minute a tournament comes around or things get rough. Have you thought about using a double headed coin? Seems to be fin when you win the toss :lol

Anyone fancy Bangladesh winning the series? Most probably they won't, but there is a chance :D.

Selectors should make a firm decision by Dhoni,Pant/Karthik or keep backup by playing both Dhoni and one of other.
Running at last minute to Dhoni is like win 7 runs in 1 ball and we cant blame him simply

If Rohit fails India lose I predict India may lose or a tie the series as India are under pressure

There is no way Dhoni should be even brought back. He has shown a huge decline over the last four years and his actual T20I record isn’t great either.

I believe Pant will come good in the T20 format at least, he reminds me a lot of Maxi a few years ago when his place in the side wasn’t secure leading to a string of poor performances from him. If he continues to perform very poorly, it wouldn’t surprise me if the selectors hand the gloves to KL Rahul, who seems to have realised that the way forward for him into the white ball side is via the keeping gloves and did his audition for Karnataka throughout the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

I agree with you selectors choose one way decision only, but if suddenly they removed Pant and add Dhoni in big tournaments
due to something then say why Dhoni dont perform well what you can say about?
I will say selectors have nobody except themselves to blame if they do this which is highly predictable according to me

You dropped the best bowler in the side in our last match :eek:

I don't necessarily think that we need to change our playing XI but the approach needs to change. Samson for Krunal would be beneficial.

If they're trying new players then Rahul Chahar should be in. Even though Bangladesh is young side.

I get your point, but is it really unfair if Dhoni does get a part of the blame?

Jofra for example had only played a handful of List A games before being selected for the Pakistan series, where two performances were enough to seal his spot for the World Cup. He did not look out of place there.

To take an even more extreme example, the likes of Smith and Warner hadn’t played a single OD game before the World Cup for well over a year. The only match experience they had was from grade cricket and T20s all over the globe. Yet, both of them performed very well, with Warner being a standout performer. IMO, it is the responsibility of a player to keep himself in form and fitness to be called up anytime if he hasn’t retired and is still in line for selection among the probables.

Considering what Dhoni has been doing over the past few months, I doubt he is anywhere near the selection pool barring a miracle. Given that we have also gone to Samson, someone who barely keeps these days is further proof of it. Dhoni is the same player that the selectors insisted on having to play nearly every ODI and even T20I just for the sake of him not losing match practice in the lead to the 2019 WC. Given that he hasn’t been treated the same way now, I only hope that the selectors have moved on from him.[DOUBLEPOST=1573058426][/DOUBLEPOST]

Relying on Dube for four overs? Now that is a bold move.
