So exactly how much should Bucknor be charged?
He let Symonds off at 30, but the third umpire should have given him out at 48 anyway. He let Symonds off again at 148 and allowed him to add 14 more to his tally. Bucknor also gave Dravid out in the second innings, caught off the pad. It is meaningless to pretend that this didn't have an effect on the outcome, but we are talking about a five-day match that went down to the wire.
Everything else was Benson. I know Bucknor is getting old, but the media are really barking up the (lesser) wrong tree. They are more forgiving of Benson because he also made a bunch of mistakes in India's favour. But look, if you make three umpiring mistakes, at least two of them are going to go against the same side. (Pigeonhole principle) It just happened to be 3-0, and Bucknor's past history didn't help one bit. But Benson was far worse as an umpire in this Test, in my opinion. It may be in the interest of BCCI to do something about Bucknor, but it is in the interest of cricket to do something about Benson.
Maybe there are other calls that I missed. If there are any important ones, I'd like to know.
