But next time do let me know which is the strongest team. So I can pick that and not lose another semi-final!

So, I've had an idea. How about a 4-team league every four seasons between the Champions of Champions League as sort of a Super World Cup for clubs/franchises? Considering that Champions League is already a World Cup for clubs/franchises.

I say this 'cause I really wanna run another CL right now and after having concluded one not so long ago, I don't think people will be interested to manage a team in another iteration of the same league. I feel like this will be a much needed distraction for me without feeling like work. It'll be just four teams, wouldn't need to keep track of statistics since it won't be cannon to the Champions League, won't have to spend time to make databases since they're already made and I still have 'em. A simple 2-game 6-round league with a final.

I was always going to do this kind of a league called Clash of Champions, but I initially had it penned in for a cycle of 8 seasons, meaning it would comprise of 8 teams. But at the moment, I'm one team short and I don't wanna do a 7-team tournament 'cause it'll be too long and stressful. Right now it's just an idea floating around my head, but I really need opinions about this from you guys. Please let me know if this is something that would interest any of you. Especially if any of the original managers are still around (@Yash./@Akshay.)

BRIEF SUMMARY​

The 2010 Champions League Twenty20 was the seventh iteration of the tournament. It featured champions of domestic Twenty20 competitions from around the globe.
England hosted this season, making it the second Senior Men's Twenty20 tournament in two consecutive years. Following the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 the year previous.
Wales was floated as a potential co-host but the idea was turned down in favour of Wales getting a Champions League in its entirety to itself sometime in the future.
England had hosted the first two seasons of the league. This was their third time playing hosts to the Champions League. The last time they hosted was five years ago.

Twelve teams participated in this season; two more than previous year's edition. Only once twelve teams competed in a single edition of the league before (in 2008).
The winners from India, Zimbabwe, England, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Scotland took part in this iteration.
As well as the winners of Nepal's domestic Twenty20 competition. This was the first time ever a Nepalese cricket team competed in the Champions League Twenty20.
Twelve participating teams were split into four pools of three teams from which the top-two advanced after a single round-robin stage, setting-up the Knockout stage.

New South Wales Blues from Australia were the defending champions but they failed to qualify. In their absence, Victorian Bushrangers made their fourth appearance.
Sialkot Stallions from Pakistan once again returned to the league, making this their fifth consecutive, as well as overall appearance. Topping Victorian Bushrangers' four.
Guyana repping the West Indies, Carlton Cricket Club from Scotland and Central Stags from New Zealand also made their second overall appearances in the league.
Sri Lanka's Wayamba Elevens competed for the third time. Not only was this their third overall appearance in the league, it was also their third consecutive appearance.
Every other team participating in the 2010 edition made their Champions League Twenty20 debut, including Sussex Sharks from England. They represented the hosts.

Matches were played in five venues across four cities with the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London hosting the final, as well as a quarter-final and one pool game.
Edgbaston hosted two knockout games which included the second quarter-final and the first semi-final. The Oval hosted the other semi-final and no other knockouts.
Headingley and Old Trafford were used for the third and fourth quarter-finals, respectively. All venues were used to host regular league games during the pool stages.

Just like the previous year, there were multiple 'Player Clashes' this season. Ross Taylor and Dwayne Smith were two players contracted by two different teams this year.
New Zealand's Ross Taylor represented the team from his nation; Central Stags in accordance with the first rule of the fixed 'Player Clashes' player allocation system.
Dwayne Smith was contracted to Sussex Sharks and Deccan Chargers, neither of which were his local clubs. The club from his hometown didn't have him contracted.
The star all-rounder from Barbados was assigned to Sussex Sharks since they had the lesser amount of overseas players in their squad as compared to Deccan Chargers.

Warriors emerged victorious by the end of the season after defeating Sialkot Stallions in the final at Lord's by a convincing margin and secured the Champions League.
Being in the final was a feat on its own for the Sialkot Stallions. They had appeared more than any team in Champions League history but this was their first-ever final.
They lost the opening match of the tournament to Sussex Sharks before bouncing back and defeating Carlton Cricket Club to ensure their berth in the first quarter-final.
Sialkot Stallions won that match by 6 runs after a thrilling game against Wayamba Elevens. They then defeated Sussex Sharks in the semi-final to avenge their pool loss.

Whereas the Warriors remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. They registered convincing victories over Central Stags and Excelsior'20 to qualify for the finals.
They beat their African rivals in the Westerns by a hefty margin only to be put up against former-winners - Victorian Bushrangers in the second semi-final at The Oval.
A 16-run win over the Victorian Bushrangers pushed the Warriors into the final against the Sialkot Stallions at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground which they won easily.
Sialkot Stallions 149/9 at the end of their innings proved to be of no bother to the Warriors as they cruised to a 6-wicket victory, winning the 2010 Champions League.

Rusty Theron's 5-wicket haul in the final including his 3-wicket first-over earned him the Man of the Final award. His bowling effort set-up the victory for the Warriors.
Jacques Kallis of the champion team was adjudged as the Player of The Tournament for his all-round excellence. His tally of 182 runs was the second-highest this year.
Only two runs less than the highest run-scorer - Colin Ingram's 184. Rusty Theron's 5-fer in the final pushed his total wickets to 13 - the most for any bowler this season.

MATCHES OF THE TOURNAMENT​

7th Pool Match, Guyana vs Westerns - Westerns won by 26 runs
Old Trafford, Manchester

In the 7th Pool Game of the season, the Westerns registered a remarkable upset and defeated Guyana by a margin of 26 runs to knock them out of the tournament.
This was the first victory ever recorded for a club-based in Zimbabwe. They broke their streak of losses after five straight defeats over the span of three years.
It was truly a momentous occasion for the Westerns. For Guyana, not so much. This defeat sent them crashing out of the Champions League after just two games.

Westerns' captain Tawanda Mupariwa won the toss and elected to bat first at Old Trafford. Westerns' openers started the innings quite carefully and very cautiously.
Mark Vermeulen and Keith Dabengwa played it safe, but also ensured their team scored runs at a quick-pace early on. The two added 42 runs for the opening-wicket.
Esuan Crandon's final over of his first spell broke their partnership and gave Guyana the breakthrough they were looking for as Mark Vermeulen departed after 15.

Keith Dabengwa carried on with his style of play and yielded positive results. Westerns' number three batsman - Tinashe Mhora played a memorable knock as well.
They added 81 runs for the 2nd-wicket in approximately 10.0 overs. Westerns went from being 42/1 at the end of the 5th over to being 123/2 at the end of the 15th.
Keith Dabengwa achieved his fifty during this pairing. Tinashe Mhora was dismissed by Narsingh Deonarine in the 16th over which brought this pairing to a close.
After that, the Westerns crumbled. They could only manage 44 runs from the last 5.0 overs despite their top-order's excellence. Guyana's bowlers pulled things back.

Charles Coventry and Sean Williams' cameos were the only bright spot after the dismissal of Keith Dabengwa. The two batters scored 17 and 13 runs respectively.
Things just fell by the wayside for the Westerns apart from that. Guyana's death-bowling pulled things back. Chris Barnwell's 3 wickets in 4 balls stole the limelight.

In pursuit of 168, Guyana had a blistering start. Asad Fudadin and especially Travis Dowlin gathered 25 runs in the first 2.0 overs and set the tone for Guyana's chase.
Sadly for them, both the batsmen lost their wickets soon after. Ramnaresh Sarwan couldn't stick around for much long either. Guyana were left dismayed on 32/3.
Chris Mpofu had picked-up two wickets in two balls. In his third over, he didn't get the hat-trick but he did pick-up another wicket on the fourth ball of the over.

Narsingh Deonarine's faulty straight-drive left his stumps in shambles as Guyana slumped further. Even though they managed to maintain a healthy scoring-rate.
Guyana were 54/5 at the end of the 5th over. The target was still very achievable but they had to really grind for it. Chris Barnwell led the fightback for Guyana.
He had support from Jonathan Foo at the other end. Foo played with a steady pace, even though his strike-rate hindered Guyana's chances quite considerably.

A flurry at the end of the innings could win it for Guyana if these two somehow stuck around for it. Barnwell kept grinding, but Foo lost his wicket in the 16th over.
Chris Barnwell was run out a couple of overs later, bringing an end to Guyana's hopes. With 43 runs required from the last 2.0 overs the game was all set and done.
Tidy bowling from Westerns' experienced hands - Tawanda Mupariwa and Njabulo Ncube ensured there weren't any upsets as the Westerns beat Guyana by 26 runs.

1st Quarter-Final, Wayamba Elevens vs Sialkot Stallions - Sialkot Stallions won by 6 runs
Lord's Cricket Ground, London

Sialkot Stallions played Wayamba Elevens at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground for the first quarter-final in what ended up being, the closest game of the season.
Leading up to this game Wayamba was undefeated. They played two games and won both of them, finishing at the top of their respective pool in the pool stage.

One of their two victories was against former champions Victorian Bushrangers. That win was considered an upset given Victorian Bushrangers' on-paper strength.
Sialkot Stallions on the other hand had a poor start to their season. They lost the opening match of the season to hometown heroes - Sussex Sharks at The Oval.
They bounced back against Carlton Cricket Club and ensured their place in the knockouts against Wayamba. Going into this game, Wayamba were the favorites.

Sialkot Stallions won the toss and elected to bat first on an even surface. What came next was an all-out assault from opener Imran Nazir, right from the word go!
His partner at the other end - Shakeel Ansar got off to a flying start himself but a sharp yorker from Thisara Perera ended his innings before it properly began.
Shahid Yousuf was Sialkot Stallions' number three batter. His flurry lasted for all of five deliveries before he was dismissed by Farveez Maharoof in the eight over.

Imran Nazir was still going at a rapid pace by this point but a semi-constant fall of wickets halted his scoring rate slightly. He needed support from the other end.
Enter Shoaib Malik, Sialkot Stallions' captain. The two added 106 runs for the third-wicket, taking Sialkot Stallions' score from 66/2 to 172/3 by the twentieth over.
In the midst of this, both these batsmen achieved their fifties. Wayamba Elevens' bowlers seemed to have no answers for the assault these two launched on them.

With a 173-run target on the board, Wayamba Elevens lost Mahela Udawatte on the very first ball of the innings. Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan made inroads early on.
Mohammad Asif and Abdul Razzaq, two of Pakistani nationals capitalized on Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan's early breakthrough and built even more pressure on Wayamba.
Asif dismissed Mahela Jayawardene in the second over for a cheap digit, and Razzaq claimed Kusal Perera's wicket in the third over to reduce Wayamba to 19/3.

Sameera de Zoysa and Jehan Mubarak launched a counterattack to save Wayamba from an immediate elimination, but the former was dismissed soon after by Asif.
Jehan Mubarak and Jeevan Kulatunga were the last recognized batsmen left, and both of them were at the crease. A premature wicket here would've been the end.

The two carried Wayamba through most of the innings, even if it meant slowing down the scoring rate. If they could get to the last overs, they could accelerate.
And they pretty much succeeded. They brought their team back into the game after being down and out. With 5.0 overs left, Wayamba Elevens needed 61 runs.
Albeit difficult, it was still possible. Sialkot Stallions let a perfect start with the ball go to waste by not attacking Mubarak and Kulatunga when they were new.

Fortunately for them, Abdur Rehman dismissed Jehan Mubarak bringing Wayamba in the doldrums again. Kulatunga and Thisara Perera were Wayamba's last hope.
An exceptional penultimate over from Mohammad Asif saw Stallions grip the game firmer. He conceded 15 runs from it, but also got the big wicket of Kulatunga.

With 17 runs required from the last over and an experienced bowler in Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan bowling, the likelihood of winning seemed really bleak for Wayamba.
Giving just a single and taking another wicket in the first three balls proved that further. A six on the next ball however, brought hope back to Wayamba's dugout.
10 runs were needed off 2 deliveries, Isuru Udana tried to the best of his abilities but could only manage 3 runs. Even a six at this point would only make it a tie.

7 needed off the last ball. A six would make it a tie. Perera at the striker's end. Naved-Ul-Hasan bowls a yorker and he's chipped it straight back to the bowler!
And with that, Sialkot Stallions snatch a 6-run victory to qualify for the semi-finals for the first time in five appearances they've made in the Champions League.

2nd Semi-Final, Victorian Bushrangers vs Warriors - Warriors won by 16 runs
The Oval, London

A thrilling encounter was sure to be expected when two powerhouses like Warriors and Victorian Bushrangers collided in an all-important semi-final at The Oval.
Warriors were undefeated at this point, and were considered the favorites going into this game after the Bushrangers faced a major upset against Wayamba Elevens.

Davy Jacobs won the toss and opted to bat first. Coming out as an opener alongside partner Ashwell Prince, Davy Jacobs could not validate his decision to bat first.
They got off to a poor start with the latter losing his wicket in the first over. Warriors' no. three, Jacques Kallis couldn't stand at the wicket for much longer either.
Davy Jacobs persisted well despite this and scored a quick 27 off 15 balls before Dirk Nannes trapped him in front of the wicket and dismissed him in the fifth over.

Mark Boucher and Colin Ingram, who had been the leading run-scorers for the Warriors at this point, took on the mantle of responsibility and rebuild the innings.
And they did. The two took the Warriors' score from 40/3 to 149/3 before Dwayne Bravo provided the Bushrangers with the breakthrough they desperately needed.
But by that time, the damage had been done. Failure to dismiss those two prematurely resulted in the Warriors' resurgence and left Bushrangers' early scalps in vain.

Mark Boucher was dismissed for 46 in the 16th over, missing his fifty by 4 runs. Colin Ingram however had already achieved his fifty during their 109-run partnership.
Colin Ingram was dismissed in the penultimate over by John Hastings. In that same over, Jon-Jon Smuts hit two back-to-back sixes to give the Warrior a late boost.
12 runs came off the last over, taking the Warriors' score to 189/6. They finished on a high even if they didn't star that way. Bushrangers' didn't have much to say.

Bushrangers got off to a flyer. Brad Hodge and Aaron Finch added 23 runs in the first 2.0 overs only for Rusty Theron to bring this to a screeching halt in the 3rd over.
Rusty Theron dismissed both Brad Hodge and Aaron Finch in the space of three deliveries. Bushrangers needed a solid start if they were going to chase down 190.
Aaron Finch and Brad Hodge gave them a quick start but failed to cultivate it into something bigger. David Hussey and Cameron White continued the scoring-rate.

The two added runs at just as quick of a pace as the openers and took the Victorian Bushrangers to 59/2 in 5.0 overs. Next over turned the game in Warriors' favor.
Makhaya Ntini caught David Hussey plumb in front of the wicket as the powerplay came to a close. With 127 runs required from 84 balls, this could sway any way.
The Bushrangers would've been feeling very inspired given the fact that Cameron White and Dwayne Bravo were at the crease. Two excellent twenty20 cricketers.

Two accumulated runs at a reasonable scoring-pace. Cameron White reached 50 off 33 balls in the process. Bushrangers, as a result of this pairing, moved to 125/3.
With 65 runs required off the last 30 deliveries, things seemed to get steeper for the Bushrangers but they still had hope as White and Bravo were still at the crease.
Jacques Kallis changed that the very next over. He picked-up Cameron White's wicket and brought an end to this partnership just as it was starting to steal the game.

Andrew McDonald lasted one ball as Jacques Kallis sent him packing as well. This was the turning point of the game. 2 wickets fell and only 3 runs came of this over.
62 off 24. That was an equation that got out of Bushrangers' hands fast. All it took was one over to turn the game in Warriors' favor, and Kallis delivered just that.
Dwayne Bravo, arguably the last hope for Bushrangers showed signs of a fightback. He smashed JJ Smuts for two 4s and a 6 to gather 19 runs of the 17th over.

All of a sudden the requirement was down again. 43 off 18 was difficult, but achievable. Lonwabo Tsotsobe bowled perhaps the most important over of the game.
He conceded 9 runs and dismissed Matthew Wade, opening up Victorian Bushrangers' tail. 34 runs from 12 balls was still very possible if Bravo played most of it.
Rusty Theron's incredible penultimate over saw the Bushrangers only gather 9 runs when the required rate was 17. After which, 25 were needed off the last over.

It would've taken a truly remarkable finish for the Bushrangers to achieve that, and a complete collapse from the bowler that was defending those 25 runs in 6 balls.
Makhaya Ntini made sure there that his team did not choke in such a moment and defended those 25 runs rather convincingly. Warriors won in the end by 16 runs.
And with that, an incredible game came to a close and with it Victorian Bushrangers' journey in the 2010 Champions League Twenty20. Warriors advance to the final.

11th GAME, POOL D - CENTRAL STAGS vs EXCELSIOR'20 at Headingley, Leeds

Mitchell McClenaghan picked up the first of three 5-fer hauls of the season. A season that ended up being dominated by bowling sides and fast-bowlers in particular.
Both teams coming into this game had played and lost a game each against the Warriors. A defeat here would mean an immediate disqualification for the losing side.

Central Stags were clearly the favorites going into this game against Netherlands' Excelsior'20. But Mitchell McClenaghan blew them away completely with a 5-fer!
Mitchell McClenaghan claimed a sensational 5-wicket haul, which at the time, was only the fourth 5-wicket haul in the history of the Champions League Twenty20.
His figures of 5/13 were the second-best figures in Champions League Twenty20 history, second only to Shane Warne's incredible 5/6 from the 2009 edition in India.

DIRK NANNES 5/19 (3.2) ▐ VICTORIAN BUSHRANGERS
2nd QUARTER-FINAL - DECCAN CHARGERS vs VICTORIAN BUSHRANGERS at Edgbaston, Birmingham

Dirk Nannes bowled the spell of his life against Deccan Chargers in the second quarter-final of the season and bagged a match-winning 5-fer to see his team home.
His 5-fer helped the Victorian Bushrangers bowl-out Deccan Chargers for a paltry 126 within 19.0 overs. Which was then comprehensively chased by the Bushrangers.

Four of his five scalps were Adam Gilchrist, Rohit Sharma, VVS Laxman and Andrew Symonds. The early dismissals of these four batsmen gutted the Chargers' hopes.
He picked two wickets in the same over early on to give his team the perfect start. Deccan Chargers tried to retaliate but he came back to provide breakthroughs.

RUSTY THERON 5/18 (4.0) ▐ WARRIORS
THE FINAL - SIALKOT STALLIONS vs WARRIORS at Lord's Cricket Ground, London

Previously, the Champions League final had been a place of greatness for bowlers. Whether it be Brett Lee's match-snatching hat trick in the final over last year.
Or Shane Warne's outstanding hat trick against a mercurial Ragama Cricket Club in 2008. Or Roger Telemachus' game-changing 4-fer against Somerset Sabres in 2006.

Rusty Theron kept that tradition alive by claiming a match-winning 5-wicket haul against Sialkot Stallions in the final at Lord's, in this year's Champions League.
His 5-fer which included a 3-wicket first-over which gutted the Sialkot Stallions. A truly incredible fightback from Abdul Razzaq saved face for the Sialkot Stallions.
