Anchoring innings from Diamond Eagles top run-scorer in the domestic league - Loots Bosman salvaged them from a potential collapse after an early scare.
Eagles seemed to be in trouble after Peter Siddle's dismissal of Morne van Wyk on the second ball of the match. Boeta Dippenaar was dismissed not long after.

Andrew McDonald caught him plumb in front of the wicket to end his innings for just 12 in the third over. Loots Bosman and Ben Hector then carried the team.
Bosman parlayed his innings according to the situation. At first he scored runs cautiously, but once he was set at the crease he started to go after the bowlers.

Ben Hector seemed like he was protecting his end of the wicket. He played a calculated innings which allowed Bosman to score much freely and much quickly.
Cameron White provided the breakthrough the Bushrangers needed and ended the partnership by dismissing Ben Hector after his run-a-ball 36 in the 16th over.

But by that time the recovery process had already been completed by the two batsmen. What came next was an attempt at launching an assault on the bowlers.
Davy Jacobs and Allan Donald gave the Eagles' innings the finishing touch they required to push the Bushrangers, by propelling their score past the 150-run mark.

An incredible win for the Diamond Eagles as they start of their Clash of Champions campaign. Victorian Bushrangers fell short by a mere margin of just 9 runs.
Diamond Eagles' bowlers delivered the victory after a hard-fought battle with the Victorian Bushrangers' batsmen. This game had plenty of twists and turns.

Victorian Bushrangers started their chase going hell for leather, scoring 26 runs from the first 3.0 overs before Allan Donald brought a screeching halt to that.
Allan Donald bowled a superb over, picking up two wickets. It seemed as though he had turned back the hands of time. David Hussey departed soon after too.

Just when it seemed like it would take a herculean effort to bring them back into the game, Michael Klinger and Brad Hodge delivered an incredible response.
The pair of them put on 72 runs for the 4th-wicket, putting the Bushrangers in the driver's seat. Michael Klinger achieved his 50 off 35 deliveries in the meanwhile.

The two would've and should've taken the Bushrangers home, but Thandi Tshabalala pulled a rabbit out of hat and dismissed them both in the space of four balls.
With 28 runs required off the last 3.0 overs, the Bushrangers faltered and fell short due to some excellent death-bowling by Roger Telemachus and Deon Kruis.

Loots Bosman what a tank! We the foundation for a good total great batting by the whole team in general only worry is they need to convert their good starts to a good score next time they go out to bat.
Bowlers done great getting wickets quite quickly early on and completely demolishing their lower order, couldn’t have asked for a better performance.

Diamond Eagles finish with 138 before being bowled-out at the end of the 19th over. A score that should be considered fairly decent given the way they started.
A fantastic start from Mark Cleary put the Leicestershire Foxes in control early as he managed to dismiss Boeta Dippenaar for a minuscule 1 in the first over.

The top-order woes for the Eagles did not stop there as Ottis Gibson bagged two wickets in the 4th over, which also included a run-out, courtesy of Mark Cleary.
Jacques Rudolph and Ben Hector put on a commendable partnership and regrouped the Eagles' innings, taking their score from 31/4 to a respectable 109/4.

But as soon as this partnership came to a close, the Foxes pounced on the Eagles' again and dismantled their lower-order, picking-up 6 wickets for just 29 runs.
Notably, it was Mark Cleary's third over where things fell by the wayside for the Eagles, leading them to lose their last three wickets in the space of six balls.

Eagles were on Foxes' tail right from the first over. Cliffe Deacon bowled a beautiful in-cutter to dismiss Darren Maddy after building up the pressure of dot balls.
Roger Telemachus then dismissed Darren Stevens in the second over by nothing but sheer pace, ripping his off-stump from the ground to reduce the Foxes to 2/2.

A tidy 2-run third-over from Cliffe Deacon built even more pressure. Roger Telemachus reaped the rewards of that pressure by dismissing Brad Hodge next over.
After 4.0 overs, the Foxes were reduced to 9/3 with their entire top-order sans Jeremy Snape back in the dugout. Eagles' bowlers breathed life into this contest.

However an act of heroism saved the Foxes from total decimation. John Sadler and Jeremy Snape revived the Foxes adding runs regardless of their scoring-rate.
Perhaps, in their rash minds, something was better than nothing. Jeremy Snape and John Sadler had to fight for us as the Eagles' bowlers gave no leeway at all.

Although, if your score is 80/3 at the end of the 16th over when you're chasing 139, you have to assume that your cautious approach was a little too cautious.
Diamond Eagles' death-bowling blew right through Leicestershire Foxes, restricting them to 127/7. A 19-run over did give them some hope after the 19th over.

The batting was far away rusty . We knew the pitch would slow in the 2nd innings but didn't expect such rash shots early on from the batsmen . The lower order hitting the boundaries was good from the net run rate point of view . Bowling was good ...

But as soon as this partnership came to a close, the Foxes pounced on the Eagles' again and dismantled their lower-order, picking-up 6 wickets for just 29 runs.

This line I liked very much . :D

Telemachus produced a stunning display of bowling there.

But the batting was not at its best. Especially the opening pair.
