Controller?

Why can i use a controller for the menus then come to selecting the teams i want to be it says underneath the controller picture that it is unassigned.

Surely someone else has had this problem.

I'm having controller problems too...won't let me assign buttons to my gamepad. Anyone any ideas?

btw straw, try going into 'options/controllers' and you may be able to assign your controller there.

Nope but i can assign buttons but when it comes to selecting between Aus, Eng and WI i can't assign the gamepad to a team only the keyboard.

How are you trying to assign it? with the arrow buttons? Try A or D (or perhaps W or S) instead.

Jonah - I also have this problem, I choose my own button settings but when I play the game the 1,2,3,4 buttons on my gamepad are set back to the defaults. I am using a Saitek gamepad and this is now what I want as the layout of the buttons is:
1 - 2
3 - 4
control stick

I would prefer 3 and 4 to be set as attacking and defensive shot as these buttons are easier to reach when holding the controller.

Straw, have you tried using your mouse to select controller 3 (which should be your controller), or using your controller d-pad to scroll down to controller 3?

Right people go to options control, use your mouse and change all device to null; then one by one configure your gamepads, if you wanna use the gamepad selct that as one and the keyboard as no. two; anyways after that use your gamepad to to accept the config and then play away !!!

Done that, but the problem is that there isn't an accept option when configuring the gamepad. There is an option when changing keyboard keys.

Ditto to that. Can't select the gamepad when it comes to team selection...

What gamepads do you all have that cant be selected? Does it show the proper name of the pad in Controller Options page?

I think I've worked out the problem. My joypad only has 6 buttons and the game wants up to 9 buttons so each control has a function. You can't confirm the controller when a button is unassigned but you can't assign all the actions with only 6 buttons. Unfortunately the game doesn't seem to let you pick a mixture of joypad for most used controls and keyboard for more rare ones.
