trust me steve, you will be absolutely delighted when you see what we WANT to incorporate into this game.

the only question is do we have the ability to incorporate it all. so far, i have seen nothing that says we cannot....

its been a while but, yea i used flash 4, director, etc. plus a little xml, the only programming i did was java and a bit of vb. i did one subject on c++ but have forgotten most of it. i was more interested in the graphics side of the web. i have dabbled in 3d but only bryce 5, landscapes and such. i know photoshop pretty well

i was thinking ahead - well ahead... you know flashy intros and stuff... :D

whilst all that is nice, people won't care if the intro is sh*t but the game rocks, so best to stay focused on the important things for now... :)

that gamasutra site you listed ravi is definitely out for now. it costs US$500 to list an add there, and US$400 to browse through the database of resumes...

hey Guys

just found the place and been readin all the posts and LOVE the idea something chronic

i see alot of problems but wish you guys the best of luck with this project

just a couple idea's

would it or would it not be easyer to make a major patch that just fixes the glitches instead of a whole new game ?

Scatter... i hope you get and choice carefully coz this project will take for ever and i've tryed a couple myself online with diff games and i know that the online projects can get tiresome... so please everyone make sure you can commit to this idea... it'll be hard but the rewards once she's done will be amazin

Good Luck.. and i'm here if you need me.. for what i dunno yet but i'll figure it out if i'm needed...

Bond27, if EA can spare their source code for the game things can be sorted in a days time. There are whole lot of shortcomings which simply cant be sorted like lack of robust AI. The AI in this game sucks big time and its core for any game. I cannot see good shelf life for this game at all.

This is a great idea, I'm so disappointed with cricket 2004, although I'd still like to see a patch to fix it since I did spend some good money on the game. With so much feedback from disgruntled consumers you would already have this project heading in the right direction, as everyone on here knows what they like and dislike about EA cricket games.

scatter.. just as i forgot.! its only when u said bout flashy intros.. am proffesionally a dve(digital video editor)... never mind if u want a sequence of mix of ingame grafx and some shots of the start players(hope we can get!) to make up a flashy one..i'll be there.. all we need is some videoclips of the ingame actions...( but again only after everything is done... :) )

btw.. c2k4s intro sucks.. it isnt that encouraging.. the previous ones were much better than this one..

I hear what your saying and feel the pain.... i put of finishing my bike project to buy NBA LIVE 2004,which i just had 2 have coz it's ball.. bought cricket 2004 and rugby 2004

thats a good 200 bucks which i could have done good stuff with.. but you know i expected alot and have been let down

there ok but like you guys said... they have been rushed out something chronic and are there for the money... not consumer satisfaction

i really hope we/ you experts can work out some thing... be it buy getting the source code ( long shot ) or making a whole new BEAST of a game ( long shot but promising if not with some hurdles )

i'm just amazed at the action on this forum and if we can stick togher who knows what we can do... the nba-live forum for ea sports nba games seems to have some influence with the patches with ea sports so there is hope...

does anyone know anyhing about HB studios as i'd presume they'd be a better bet to contact then ea sports as they just finilaze it and market it i'd think

i never thought bout it, but like some said... the massive amount of cricket follows in India/Pakistan and all over leaves a market that is need of a QUALITY game..

i'm excited bout both options but know it's a going to be a B*tch of a process...

Update

I have expanded the search for c++ jockeys to beyond this forum... there are a number of people who are really possibilities of getting on board, but I need to develop things with them further first.

The great news is, that it really does look like this is the only area in which we are deficient in this project atm (We will never have enough researchers though!!!).

We have had heaps of volunteers put their hands up to do all sorts of things from physics to research and plenty in between.

But before we can give anyone a definitive answer to 'what do you need?' we need to finalise our c++ programmers - everything will stem from that. Obviously the more programmers we have on board, the less time the game will spend in development, but there is going to be a minimum number of coders required before we can even begin or else the workload will be just too large.

I am sure you will be all pleased to know that the number of required coders is at such a number because of the enormity of all of the aspects I have placed into the design document that we want to include in the game.

Once the coding phase has been appropriately planned (the structure of how everything will be done before a single key is pressed in anger) I will look to do a number of things (in no particular order):

- Start discussions with publishers. I have identified four publishers who are ideal for this project.
- Get a website up and running
- List as many features that will be included in the game as I can realistically make public.
- Let all of you know about it. :D This is where the game was really born after all.
- Round up everyone who put their hand up for research. I will need to assign some tasks quite early on in the piece so as the 3D Modellers can get to work.
- Round up everyone who put their hand up for 3D and texturing so they can start toying with the research data (it shouldn't take too much of a leap of the imagination to discern what the early research will entail).
- Bug a site admin to create a new forum for the game. :D

In an another development I have started discourse with a 'body' in regards to licencing and endorsement. I simply cannot go any further than that in regards to details at the moment, but as with everything else, you will always be the first to know (after the team of course ;) ).

I am curious to know how important people think obtaining an official licence is (So we can use real player names and likenesses as opposed to the PES option of calling Warne, Worn). I don't wanna hear, 'yeah it is important,' I want to hear why you think it is/is not for now. This isn't a reflection on how the discussions I just mentioned are going btw - I am just curious.
