Folks, really need your help with something... is anyone able to drive the ball between Cover fielder and Point? I've tried doing so again post the latest patch n PS4 but as mentioned in OP all my cover drives go left of Cover fielder, i.e. through extra-cover region. I'm unable to drive the ball in the arc between Cover fields and Point.

To elaborate when I bat as a right hander, and the AI has selected a field with Mid Off, Cover and Point fielders, I'm unable to drive the ball between Cover and Point no matter what I do. All my cover drives either end up to the Cover fielder or to the left of Covers, i.e. through extra-cover region between Mid Off and Cover region. Essentially the region between Cover and Point is inaccessible at the moment similar to how DBC 17 was at launch.

I should be able to hit a cover/square drive to an overpitched delivery outside off through the gap between Cover and Point but can't. Are you seeing the same? I generally prefer batting to bowling in cricket games, and this is turning out a deal breaker. Any help/input would be appreciated.

You're not going mad, I'm seeing it constantly on Xbox One X too against fast/medium bowlers. (Spin bowling is fine.)

It doesn't matter how well I time or aim a shot between cover/point, it either pings off the bat directly to cover every single time or very occasionally it'll pop out between backward point/gully region.

It's yet another game breaking glitch as it makes batting into the offside virtually unplayable.

Until BA get this Xbox patch out I'm binning C 22 as it's just getting infuriating now & the problems are completely outweighing any enjoyment.

Career mode is currently impossible too due to the running bug which is nearly 2 whole seconds on Xbox One X. (The delay is about 0.7 seconds in an Ashes series, so the different game modes have different bugs too.)

AI has always been able to play shots which human players couldn't. But Big Ant need to take a closer look at re-designing the batting controls and have a true 360 degree shot making which was actually present in Ashes Cricket 09 and International Cricket 2010. Currently the shot direction is pre-determined and the ball travels in a select few directions/areas.
How I wish we could still edit config files ala EA Cricket days…

Thanks so much for confirming! I've reverted to Cricket 19 for the time being as I can't really play a game where I'm unable to drive through covers. Cricket 22's release is reminiscent of DBC 17. It says a lot that Cricket 19 DLC was superior to Cricket 22, and disappointing as I was expecting Big Ant to build on what they had done in Cricket 19.

Please do raise the lack of traditional cover drive bug with Big Ant else nothing will get done.

Might be something in this, now i recall i think i have had a few appeals recently turned down where no review option came up when bowling, will keep an eye on it.
At the risk of potentially pointing out the obvious, you do lose reviews if unsuccessful and in some formats only have one or maybe two unsuccessful reviews.

Zim, it's quite disheartening and deflating to look back and see the current state of cricket gaming. I recall playing Brian Lara 2005 (BLIC 2005) and thinking that if Codemasters could build on that version, we will have a great game on our hands. Felt the same way with EA 2007 which introduced "century stick" controls for the first time and I loved it. I liked how Ashes Cricket 09 (AC09) played, and felt the same way with DBC 14.

And here we are in 2021 in a 6th iteration of a series, surely enough time one would imagine to sort out things, and we're still asking about nailing the basics. We still don't have a truly "360 degree" batting, fielding & field sets have been a bane of cricket games since forever, and nailing AI is something almost no developer has come close to achieving.

IMO the best option is, as you've said, to go for crowd-sourcing similar to community sharing for creations in Big Ant, but to take it to another level. Allow users the ability to create & pick their own fields for AI (you can't do so as there's no way to disable OOB fields which AI continues to pick), or enable AI to be scripted via open APIs/scripts similar to what FrancoBaldo did in DBC 14. The sooner game developers realize that community development is the way to go, sooner we'll get to a place where we have the basics nailed.

Some toil in the dirt for England..

Bowled very straight as you can see..

AI were sensible to an extent.. Chase played more aggressively at the end while Seales couldn’t hit a barn door but just stayed with him and frustrated the life out of me..

2 LBW shouts reversed on review.

@Langeveldt @blockerdave 3 outfield catches missed.

1 pull shot kind looking thing towards short mid wicket.. let it hit him in the face..

1 lofted drive down the ground… let it hit him in the face…

1 clip of the legs down to fine leg… let it hit him in the face..

:)

Can anyone help me out, there’s something I’m really struggling with...

how many types of leave are there in cricket?

I would say front foot & back foot. But if you want to be pedantic I could throw up any random number and justify it. As an example I could say "fall back on your ass trying to evade a bouncer", or "running away to square leg" are legitimate leaves too :D

Wait what? I am able to drive the ball to the cover.... Am I missing something here?

@zimrahil do you know what types of files the gameplay is under? What are the reasons/barriers we can't breakthrough the gameplay files? How did @francobaldo1 manage to manipulate edge frequency?

Also interesting @cricket_online again, do you know why they don't allow the community to work on the game... people would literally do it for free
