ENG v/s SAF, TEST, 21-Aug-2003
(Day 3 - Stumps)

South Africa: 164/5 in 62 overs

Run rate: 2.65

Batsmen: N McKenzie - 17 M Boucher - 2

SAF: 342/10
ENG: 307/10
looks like the pommy bowlers are getting on top there, a couple more wickets and the tail is exposed. :o

I just hope England bowlers still to put pressure on and not give away a big run lead

This game has shades of Eng/Aus at the same ground in the Ashes 2001; set 315 to win, England won by 6 wickets, with Butcher famously smashing 173 not out. Oh, for the same result again!!
I still maintain that this game has swung on Tres and Butcher's decision to take the light on Friday...

yeah this walk off will go down as one of famous bad decisions..especially if England lose. If I remember correctly, last year Ganguly, Sachin & co. kept smashing England bowlers in fairly dark conditions..and won in the end.
As to your earlier q. Jonah, Aussies wouldn't have walked..and I don't think SA will keep the target at 315 <_<

even worse news.....113/5 things not looking good fro the english. With just flintoff and butcher.....its the last recognized pair! :o

I can just picture it now. Kallis with a beauty of a delivery to get rid of Vaughan.

The boys aren't going down without a fight, 167/5 at close; not out batsmen are
Butcher 57 (131), Flintoff 45 (54).

its over! the south africans have completely outplayed their counterparts......by winning by 191 runs! kallis....completely disrupted any chance.....and brilliant catchin ensured there will be no heroic efforts

Yep, fair play to SA, a comprehensive way to finish off today. England will surely rue letting them off the hook in their first innings (taking nothing away from Kirsten), that decision to take the light on Friday, and bowling poorly in their second innings when they were 165/5 at the start of Sunday (great knock by Hall, deserved a century).
2-1 to SA, with one to play.

well played by SA, now one more to go .. I hope Eng give their best to tie the series

good luck to England
