A potential Gerrard/Wilshire central mid-field partnership?
I was thinking about this the other day. Given the OBVIOUS problem ENG mid-field has with no proper defensive-midfielder now that Barry is in decline & Hargreaves is unlikely to come back.
Looking ahead to EURO 2012, im starting to feel ENG may have no choice but to play Gerrard/Wilshire in the mid-field in a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 formation:
---------------------------Gerrard-----------Wilshire----------------------
Walcott/Johnson---------------------Rooney-------------------------Milner
------------------------------------Carroll--------------------------------
We all know Gerrard is superb box-to-box mid-fielder. Has a very sold passing & defensive game, very disciplined position & an excellent football brain to know when he can get forward or not. While Wilshire has been displaying those skills @ Arsenal all season.
So IMO i think pairing them could be the answer the ENG mid-field quandary. Thoughts?
