Strauss has been dropped at 1st slip off Chaminda Vaas and strauss gets a lifeline.Strausse's first ball in the series was bowled outside off and dropped short.Strauss goes for the cover drive off the back foot and gets a tickle on it.the man at second slip had an easy catch but he spilt it.
Can Strauss take advantage of that?

No is the answer to the question.Strauss had early hit a crisp four to get off the mark but went next over to Chaminda Vaas.he played a cover drive that looked like a safe shot.the ball seemed in and got a bit of bounce. It hit the top inside edge of the bat and hit off stump.England have lost a wicket early which was just what the Sri Lankan's wanted.

England 9/1 off 3 overs
Trescothick 2*
Strauss 4
Vaughan 0*

Vaas 2/1

Lunch comes with England and Sri Lanka tied for the session.Sri Lanka took the early wicket of Strauss caught behind off the bowling of Chaminda Vaas who nearly had Strauss 3rd ball of the innings but was dropped at 1st slip.Trescothick and Vaughan stayed in control taking many balls to get settled.Trescothick made 18* and Vaughan 15*.These two look to build on their very good partnership so far after Lunch.

Talk from the sky sports commentators will come after i come back from the nets :D

lunch break talk

DL:Good session that for both teams wasn't it nasser?

NH:Yes Trescothick and Vaughan batted very sensibly but i imagine Strauss will not be happy with that wafty shot when he had only hit a boundary.

DL:Yes definatley Duncan Fletcher will probably have had a word with him and he will be dissapointed not to score some runs on this good wicket.

NH:So how do you think England will come out in the 2nd session Bumble?

DL:I think Trescothick will try and make a big score and make a be the mainstay of the innings but Michael Vaughan will probably fancy these 2 young seam bowler Malinga and Fernando.

NH:I think that will be the case too.Now lets look forward to the 2nd session and hope to see some good cricket.

Trescothick goes in a similar fashion to strauss but this time of a spinner. He played back to a good delivary from jayasuriya.it caught the edge and the keeper took a great catch.Trescothick played well for his 24 but should have gone on to make a big score.
