I have been playing the PS3 version of the game on a 42" TV since release, but today was able to play the PC version for the first time, and.....WOW!!

The graphics on my new gaming computer are absolutely superb with everything turned up high. The game seems to play much smoother and loading screens are much faster. Even the sound of leather on willow sounds better than in the PS3 version.

I think Big Ant have made a great PC version and I'm sure that with further patches and mods, this will confirm it's identity as THE cricket game of all time.

My rig specs are as follows:-

Intel Core i5 4670K Haswell Processor Overclocked to up to 4.4GHz
16GB Corsair/Crucial PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (2 x 8GB sticks)
PALIT JETSTREAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Graphics Card
250GB Samsung 840 EVO Solid State Drive
2000GB 7200RPM Hard Disk - 6Gbps
Corsair CX 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified PSU
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Corsair Hydro H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

I've slightly retitled this thread to make it a general one for people to post their first impressions of the PC version.

Initial reaction is very positive. A lot of the kinks from the PS3 version have been ironed out.

No more superman fielding. Only occasional throws back to the stumps are direct hits. Batsmen no longer dawdle running between the wickets meaning that sprint/run-bat-in are only required when squeezing in quick runs.

Not seen any edges yet on my career mode, but field placements seem more realistic and yet still reactive to shot placement.

I love it that the load times are so much quicker on PC and my rig runs the game super smooth. No crashes etc so far.

All in all a huge thumbs up to Big Ant :thumbs :thumbs

I managed to run the academy on a Sony Vaio portable 13 inch notebook. I'm really hoping the PC version of the game will run on my old machine.

Has anyone managed to knock over the stumps whilst bowling yet?

Got mine knocked over by Mitch Johnson. Felt amazing. :D

Thank you. I didn't like the way that the ball had little or no effect on the stumps, almost like they had been concreted into the ground.

I cannot agree more. :). Being a purist myself I wasn't being able to get immersed completely within the game with all the issues. Though minor as they were.

Now, it's an all together different story. Things that I'm most happy with are the AI Pacing, bowler fatigue issue solved and superhuman fielding corrected. Pretty much loving it at the moment. :yes
