Future Captains

For India, Yuvraj Singh or Mohammed Kaif will be the ideal captain! Both have a great relationship with their team mates and both are lively figures on the field.

Sehwag?? Do you guys think Sehwag might be there for long in the scene? I highly doubt so. I have this feeling that he might fade away soon!

Sehwag is what 26 ?
I think by the time Dravid retires Sehwag might be heading towards the pavillion.Sehwag would be given a run to ensure that some one senior leads them.
But in the longer run i feel that M Kaif for ODI's and Yuvraj for tests.
How about Dhoni ?
Or Harbhajan ? ;)

Imran Farhat would make a perfect Captain for the Pakistani team, after Inzamam-ul-Haq, but if he improves his batting as he is one of better fielders in team.

Imran Farhat should be made the batting coach of Pak team.

Sami has promised a lot but has not lived up to his name.
i would like to see him imporive but at the moment he is not good enough for Australia A team.

Sehwag is 29 now. The ideal leader would be Kaif, as he is a level headed bloke and rarely shows his emotions. Yuvi is far more an emotional person and might make tactical errors in crucial situations. And if anyone suggests Harbhajan as captain, I might chuck a cricket bat at you. :D

Has'nt Farhat been inconsistent?

Instead of Farhat i'd go in for this choice

Odi captain - Malik / Kamran
Test captain-Danish Kaneria ( seeing as the Pakis regularly omit him from the playing eleven in an odi )

Kaneria is chosen in the ODI side would also make an ideal captain. He definatley has a good thinking of the game and would prove to be a better leader than Akhtar or Sami.

I revert my staement.
Kaif is ideal for India.Agreeing with you, i'd say that Yuvraj would make certain errors and is not mature enough ( cricketing sense )
As far as Kaif goes,i'd also like to see him more often in the tests. His real potential would be unvieled there.

And for Harbhajan.....well we might just have some "Bishen Singh Bedi- ism" in him. ;)

Kaneria has been given enough chances in One day games, and everytime he is given a chance its an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. The guy goes for 7-8 runs per over, and that ultimately cost Pak the match.

Unless something dramatic happen i don't see how he can play Onedayers. Pak has Mansoor Amjad, a leg spin allrounder that has been knocking the door since a long time and i think he's a much better bet than Kaneria for OD.

cam white is def captain material, its his bowling thats the prob. Good first class, but at international, he bowls darts. His batting is at a good position and considering his age, id say clarke then white

Sami is defenitely better than Mick Lewis and that qualifies him for Australian team doesnt it. :D

Sehwag should be the next Indian captain considering that he is the vice-captain now and that he will be the seniormost when the current batch retires. I dont think Kaif will ever be captain or I'm even doubtful of him being a regular in the Test side soon. Raina seems to be a much brighter prospect.

Anyways, Pathan could be prefered over both Yuvi and Kaif.

Kaif is a better skipper than Dravid. He has the best leadership skills in the current squad. Once he is 29-30, he deserves to be a skipper. He capitained India to U-19 WC glory!

Here is my list for some of the nations:

Clarke - Australia
Ashraful - Bangladesh
Strauss - England
Yuvraj - India
Malik - Pakistan
Sangakarra - Sri Lanka

Notice that most of my picks are batsmen. I just think that batsmen in general make better captains.

Afridi: Alright boys. We need 100 to win, and 50 overs in the day's play. I'll open the innings, and Kamran is coming with me.
*Both out after 2 overs*
*Malik and Younis walk in, guide the team home with 25 overs to spare*
Younis: Yay, we won. Good win by us. Right Shahid bhai?
Afridi: GOOD WIN?? WHAT WERE YOU DOING OUT THERE???
Younis: What?? We won!
Afridi: HOW WERE YOU BATTING?? Thats it, I warned you last time! 35 off 50?? THIS ISN"T AN UNLIMITED TEST MATCH!! Next time I see you hitting no fours off an over or not slogging the part timer for six your OUT OF THE TEAM!!! Same with you Shoaib! 50 off 61??? MY GRANDMA COULD SCORE QUICKER!!

:)
Good one, had me laughing out loud.

To add to Kaifs credentials remember that he turned a badly underperforming Domestic Side into I think it was Ranji Trophy winners.

Rather Vaughan-esque his batting suffered a bit, but the team improved dramatically with a mostly young-core. Very much Captain material in that sense. Add to it that he had the ability and determination to dig out his innings in the 1st test when India were struggling, I believe he could well be Indias next captain.

Brilliant point. I would give the captaincy to someone who has tasted and excelled in that role. Sehwag was made skipper of Delhi only after he captained India in Bangladesh. Yuvraj has never captained Punjab - Reetinder Sodhi and Dinesh Mongia have been doing farely well as skippers. Kaif has transformed a bunch of also rans to champions. Kaif for skipper, Venugopal Rao - his understudy. He is doing a brilliant job with weaklings - Andhra. and he captained the board president's XI for a win over England. (Cant hold to rub it in though)
